A Brazilian passenger plane en route to the Sao Paulo International Airport fell from the sky on Friday, killing everyone on board. The tragedy was captured on amateur video and was uploaded to social media in what has grown to be one of the most terrifying stringer recordings captured in recent weeks. Local news agency BNO shared the plane crash video, which captures the ill-fated flight’s final moments before crashing.

The videos posted on X capture the final moments before Voepass Flight 283 crashed into a condominium in Vinhedo, Brazil.

In the video, Voepass Flight 283 is seen spiraling in the air while a mechanical clicking sound similar to the noise a helicopter’s rotor makes is heard in the background.

After several turns, the jet plane disappears from view, but another video posted by Disclose.tv picks up the noise of the crash and the fiery plume of black smoke from impact moments later. The plane dropped onto a residential neighborhood, crashing into a home in the Vinhedo neighborhood a short distance from Sao Paulo.

In the aftermath of the plane crash, the vessel’s black box was recovered and investigators are probing it for answers. The exact cause cannot be determined immediately, with some in the industry stating that it could take months, if not years, before the reasons will be able to be confirmed.

It’s been speculated that prior to the plane crash that the aircraft stalled. In order for a plane to stay aloft, it must maintain a certain minimum speed. The video evidence seems to indicate that the plane had possibly stalled and the flight crew was unable to successfully maneuver the aircraft out of the stall so that it could safely resume its trajectory.

Voepass Flight 283 was carrying 57 passengers and 4 crew members, all of whom tragically died in the crash.

A number of issues could have caused the plane to stall prior to the crash, and an equal number of factors could have kept the pilots from being able to remedy the situation. Additionally, aviation experts assert that the plane’s pilots should have been able to maneuver out of a stall in the event that one of the two engines failed. But whether it was a damaged wing, engine problems, or issues with the aircraft’s tail isn’t yet certain.

The plane crash took the lives of all 57 passengers and four crew members on board. Among the dead were several physicians that were heading to a medical seminar in the nation’s capital. Though the aircraft crashed into a condominium in the neighborhood, there were no casualties on the ground.

It is not yet known what caused Voepass Flight 283 to crash.

Three of South America’s deadliest plane crashes have occurred in Brazil, according to information released by the Aviation Safety Network. This includes the July 17, 2007 incident where all 187 people aboard a jetliner died on a runway at the Sao Paulo-Congonhas Airport. The ground fire that resulted led to an additional 12 people dying on the ground.

A Boeing 737 carrying 154 people was involved in a mid-air collision with a smaller aircraft carrying seven passengers in 2006, killing everyone aboard the airliner but sparing all seven on the tiny jet. 1982 saw a plane crash that killed 137 people when the pilot mistakenly maneuvered the aircraft into the side of a mountain.
