Relatable Fantasy Anime Sets Release Date On Crunchyroll
With all sorts of adventure fantasy anime out there, many get lost in the mix. However, I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time (Guild Receptionist for short), might be able to stand out on its own when it’s released in January 2025. Though it’s in a fantasy world, the amusing and relatable main character doesn’t get to enjoy life, but is instead stuck doing paperwork and working overtime, making for a highly relatable story.
I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time releases on Crunchyroll in January.
Written by Mato Kousaka, Guild Receptionist was originally a light novel. It was first released in 2021, and as of the middle of 2024, there are a total of seven volumes. Shortly after the light novel went live, it was also adapted into a manga.
Guild Receptionist focuses on a girl named Alina Clover. She took the position of a receptionist for the Adventurers Guild, thinking it would be an easy job that paid well. Unfortunately, she realizes early on that it’s not quite as cushy as she thought.
While Alina deals with all of these challenges, the monsters in the dungeon aren’t her real enemies. Instead, it’s the paperwork and the dreaded overtime that are her final bosses.
More often than not, Alina is forced to do overtime, especially when adventurers end up stuck in a dungeon, as she has to deal with them and fill out a lot of paperwork. Tired of filling out document after document and staying late, Alina decides to take down monsters herself that would pose problems for most adventurers.
With a plan and the power to fight off almost any monster in Guild Receptionist, Alina has everything under control, so long as she can keep her activities hidden.
Though the story is set in a fantasy world, Alina’s situation is far too relatable for those who deal with office or customer service jobs. Guild Receptionist shows that it doesn’t matter how awesome your fantasy world is, everyone has the same problems with overtime, bureaucracy, and paperwork.
Sure, there are evil monsters and adventurers, which sounds like fun. While Alina deals with all of these challenges, the monsters in the dungeon aren’t her real enemies. Instead, it’s the paperwork and the dreaded overtime that are her final bosses.
