The Most Insane Adam Sandler Movie Is Streaming Without Netflix
These days, just about everyone is aware of Adam Sandler’s dramatic acting capability, as demonstrated in such critically acclaimed films as Uncut Gems, Punch-Drunk Love, and Reign Over Me. Still, most fans of the Sand-man’s movies know him for over the top insanity, in the form of goofball comedy vehicles that allow him to flex his decidedly less impressive silly accents. The greatest shining example of this trend is the 2000 black comedy Little Nicky, which is currently streaming for free on Tubi.
Little Nicky
Little Nicky was written and directed by frequent Adam Sandler collaborator Steven Brill, who would later go on to helm such Sandler flicks as Mr. Deeds, Sandy Wexler, and his Netflix musical stand-up special Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh.
Sandler also assisted in the writing of the film, along with his long-time writing partner and Saturday Night Live alumnus Tim Herlihy.
Hell On Earth
The film stars Adam Sandler in the eponymous role, as the son of Satan, who is tasked with thwarting his older brothers’ plot to bring the woes of Hell upwards and torture the Earth’s living population.
Along the way, Little Nicky crosses paths with a talking dog who can pee out smoke bombs, a struggling actor who refuses to share his Coca-Cola, and a pair of air-headed satan worshippers eager to do his bidding.
He also happens upon a few unstoppable trains, an angry polar bear, and a thieving street vendor played by The Boondocks‘ John Witherspoon.
The Cast
The sprawling cast of Little Nicky also includes performances from the likes of Patricia Arquette, Harvey Keitel, Rhys Ifans, Reese Witherspoon, and Friday‘s Tommy “Tiny” Lister.
The wacky film also contains the greatest cameo performance ever committed to the screen, as legendary director Quentin Tarantino portrays a deranged blind preacher, who screams about damnation on the street corners of New York after accurately sussing out Nicky’s hellish origins.
Sandler Super Fans Love It
Little Nicky is genuinely one of the most off-the-walls movies I’ve ever seen. It’s a childhood favorite that I make a point to show to my friends as often as possible, much to the chagrin of everybody that I know. Needless to say, the professional critics don’t love the movie, resulting in its 22 percent ‘rotten’ critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Still, Little Nicky is an iconic fan favorite for Adam Sandler super-fans around the globe, jam-packed full of off-beat humor, hilarious VFX gags, and sickening set-pieces.
