Jeff Goldblum Welcomes Scarlett Johansson To Jurassic World
In 1993, John Hammond welcomed us all to Jurassic Park, and now Jeff Goldblum is welcoming Scarlett Johansson to Jurassic World. Goldblum sent Johansson a surprise video recording that aired during her Today interview, saying, “This I know: Scarlett will find a way,” adding, “Don’t get eaten, unless you want to. I love you.” Johansson was thrilled with the message, saying, “Oh my god, I can’t believe Jeff said that to me,” and, “I think my life is complete now.”
The Blessing Of An Original Star
Scarlet Johansson is set to lead the new upcoming Jurassic World movie, so it would certainly be encouraging to hear from one of the stars of the original Jurassic Park, especially since Johansson has previously stated how big of a fan she is of Steven Spielberg’s 1992 classic. Jeff Goldblum played mathematician, Dr. Ian Malcolm, alongside Sam Neill’s Alan Grant and Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler. Goldblum reprised the role in several sequels, including the most recent Jurassic World: Dominion.
The Returning Writer
Along with Goldblum’s blessing and Scarlett Johansson’s involvement, the new Jurassic World film is shaping up to have a lot of promise. The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One, Godzilla) while David Koepp returns to the franchise to write the script. Koepp wrote the script for the original Jurassic Park along with its sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Jurassic World
Steven Spielberg, who directed the original, is also returning as an executive producer on the film through his Amblin Entertainment banner, along with original Jurassic Park producer Frank Marshall. Joining Johansson in the cast are Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono. The new Jurassic World film is also set to give the franchise a fresh start, telling a story separate from the Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard trilogy.
The Lackluster Reunion Film
While the previous Jurassic World movies made boatloads at the box office, only the first one was relatively well-reviewed by fans. The two sequels went progressively downhill, and not even original stars Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern could save the terrible Dominion from scathing reviews. Still, a billion-dollar franchise is a billion-dollar franchise, so it’s not surprising that a new film is being made.
Johansson Is A Fan
Scarlett Johansson has also said the script for the new Jurassic World film is “incredible,” so fans are definitely hoping for something much better than Dominion and Fallen Kingdom. Fans obviously want more of the dinosaur franchise because they showed up in droves despite terrible reviews for all three Jurassic World films. It’s about time fans get a movie in the Jurassic franchise that lives up to expectations.
The Star’s Next Project
While we wait for Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World film, you can see her now in the NASA romcom Fly Me to the Moon, which co-stars Channing Tatum. The film takes place during the 1960s Space Race and follows the relationship between NASA’s Apollo 11 launch director and the marketing exec brought in to improve NASA’s public image. Fly Me to the Moon is in theaters this weekend, while the new Jurassic World film is set for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release.
