The Boys Season 4 Reaction In Episode 1 Is Totally Unscripted
The Boys is back with Season 4, and the first three episodes gave us plenty of set-up for what’s to come. Of course, The Boys is The Boys, so those first episodes had plenty of gore, gross-out moments, and moments that are a little too similar to real life. But, one moment in the season’s first episode was actual real-life, as creator Eric Kripke revealed on X that Victoria Neuman’s reaction to Billy Butcher’s (Karl Urban) email was completely unscripted since actor Claudia Doumit hadn’t seen the picture before.
A Perfect “Behind” The Scenes Joke
The moment in question is when Billy Butcher says that he deleted all the information Hughie has about Neuman, and when Neuman opens his email to confirm, she instead gets a picture of a butth**e. The Boys always finds a way to gross out and shock us audience members at home, but it seems like Kripke is able to do the same for his actors in Season 4. Of course, re-watching the scene makes this tidbit of info even better because Doumit seemingly stifles a laugh after getting the picture.
A Stunt-Butt Was Recruited
Kripke apparently got a ton of questions about this particular scene from The Boys Season 4, as he also went back on X to reveal that the butt in the photo does not belong to Karl Urban. Instead, they hired a model for the picture and Kripke had the task of choosing the picture from 20 different options. So, while Doumit was only subject to one (surprise) version of the picture, at least she didn’t have to sift through a mini-album of them from a group of strangers.
Plenty More Surprises Where That Came From
The Boys Season 4 is just getting started, and there are undoubtedly a lot of surprises in store for the rest of the season. For one, we’ve already had the delightful introduction of Tilda Swinton as the octopus the Deep (Chace Crawford) has secretly taken as a lover. We also get yet another Supernatural alum in the mix with Jeffrey Dean Morgan appearing as Agent Joe Kessler.
A Surprise Song And Dance
The Boys Season 4 also gave us a full-blown Christmas parody song titled “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas.” In typical The Boys fashion, the song may have only been a small part of one episode, but they brought on Tony award winners and nominees Shoshana Bean, James Monroe Iglehart, and Andrew Rannells to sing it. Of course, we’ve also got two new members of the Seven including the hyper-intelligent Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and the conspiracy-theory-slinging Firecracker (Valorie Curry).
The Boys Season 4 On Amazon Prime Video
You can tell that The Boys Season 4 is gradually working toward the show’s endgame, as it was announced that the fifth season of the series will also be the last. Obviously, that doesn’t mean that the franchise can’t continue with spin-offs like Gen V, but it’ll interesting to see where the inevitable showdown between Homelander and the titular team ends up. In the meantime, you can check out the first four episodes of The Boys Season 4 on Prime Video now and catch the new episodes airing every Thursday until July 18.
