Justin Timberlake Arrested, Court Date Happening
Pop star and actor Justin Timberlake was arrested in Long Island in New York for driving while intoxicated or impaired. A representative for the Sag Harbor Police Department stated that, since this morning, the 43-year-old singer remains in police custody and that the official police statement will be issued later today.
The Arrest
The police still have yet to confirm the charges, but unverified sources state that Justin Timberlake was arrested on DWI charges after having dinner at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor.
He was pulled over by the police after leaving the hotel restaurant to drive to his friend’s house.
According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Timberlake will be arraigned in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court this morning. Sadly, the office hasn’t had any further comments on the matter. Please note that this is a developing story, and more details will be unveiled in the following hours.
The Tour
Justin Timberlake was arrested while on tour to support his latest album, Everything I Thought I Was, and he’s next scheduled to play Chicago’s United Center this Friday and Saturday, June 21 and June 22, before returning to NYC on June 25 and June 26.
Tour dates will continue in the US through July 9, when the Friends with Benefits and Time star is scheduled to take the tour for a rather lengthy European run for the rest of the summer and into the fall. He’s also set to return to the US at the beginning of October, when he’s scheduled to play at Barclay Center Brooklyn.
Timberlake’s Rise
Though he first gained massive popularity as a member of boy band NYSNC in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, Justin Timberlake began his solo career in 2002, with the release of his first solo album, Justified.
The album has sold more than 4.6 million copies (both hardcopies and streaming equivalents) to date, and it has been certified platinum three times by the Recording Industry Association of America and five times by the British Phonographic Industry.
Movie Career
The massive success of his music, as well as 10 Grammys, four Emmys, and a whole range of Billboard Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards, only attest to his music talent, while Oscar and Golden Globe nominations speak of his talent as an actor—the singer stared in several massive box office hits, such as the aforementioned Friends with Benefits, Bad Teacher with Cameron Diaz, and The Social Network.
Britney’s Memoir
The Prince of Pop also made headlines last year when Britney Spears released her memoir, The Woman in Me. The memoir dedicates several chapters to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s relationship, which ended in 2002.
In the memoir, Spears wrote about being pregnant during their relationship but had an abortion in late 2000 after Timberlake insisted they were not prepared for parenthood and that he didn’t want to be a father.
