Goldie Hawn Says LA Is Terrible After Multiple Home Break-ins

In a Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Goldie Hawn shared that she and Kurt Russell are considering moving to Palm Desert because the area is much safer than LA.

The main cause of these considerations is that, according to the Academy Award-winning actress, LA has become terrible, revealing that she and Russell’s home was robbed while the couple was out to dinner. But that wasn’t the only instance. The home was also robbed while Hawn was inside the house, prompting Hawn and Russell to hire a guard.

Goldie Hawn didn’t spare details regarding the circumstances of the first break-in by sharing that the perpetrators had entered the premises through the balcony door, which was a reinforced door with an advanced locking mechanism, suggesting a higher level of sophistication. They entered the couple’s bedroom and raided their closets, stealing all the valuables they could find. Fortunately, nobody was hurt, as the perpetrators were long gone before Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were home from their dinner.

But what makes the whole story even more terrifying is that it happened again. Goldie Hawn believed that the first break-in was a one-off incident because what are the chances of the same thing happening again?

Well, pretty high, it would seem, because their home was burglarized once again, and this time while Hawn was at home with just her pet dog. This time, she heard a startling noise in another room. It was later discovered that the burglars tried to get into Hawn’s bedroom while she was in the house.

All of this prompted Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell to hire security guards to watch over the residence, especially in instances in which Hawn’s home alone. This podcast dropped right at the time when Los Angeles continues to suffer an increase in property crime, particularly break-ins and break-in attempts. The city recently saw a 3.5 percent increase in property crimes, while the administration still struggles to address the LAPD hiring and retention crisis and invest in community-led approaches to crime prevention.

Unfortunately, there’s still much work to be done, and many residents of Los Angeles don’t feel safe on city streets, so Hawn’s comment wasn’t so far out there. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell first met on the set of 1966’s The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band when Russell was 16 and Hawn was 21. Though he was too young for her to date then, the two eventually started dating in 1983 and have celebrated 41 years together this year.

Though both have children from previous marriages, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have one biological son, actor Wyatt Russell, who starred alongside his father in the Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
