Netflix Dark Mystery Thriller Series With A DC Star Leaves You Guessing

By Douglas Helm | Updated

There’s nothing like a good binge-watch that keeps you on the edge of your seat, especially if the TV show has a definitive end and plenty of episodes to watch. If you’re looking for your next big binge, then you can’t go wrong with the legal thriller How to Get Away with Murder, which has six exciting and acclaimed seasons to take down and spans 90 episodes. You can now stream the entire thing on Netflix.

Viola Davis Leads How To Get Away With Murder

How to Get Away with Murder was created by Peter Norwalk, and prolific TV producer Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s AnatomyScandalBridgerton) produces it with ABC Studios. At the center of the series is star Viola Davis, who has since brought her gravitas to the DC film universe as Amanda Waller in the Suicide Squad films. Davis stars as Annalise Keating, a defense attorney and law professor who teaches a class called How to Get Away with Murder.

Every Season Is A New Twisting Mystery

Keating brings on some of her best students to help her solve cases at her law firm. The series takes viewers through a smart and twisty narrative with mysteries to solve for both the characters and the audience.

While Viola Davis is undoubtedly the star of the show, How to Get Away with Murder also includes a fantastic supporting cast that includes Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza, Charlie Weber, Liza Weil, Billy Brown, and Conrad Ricamora.

An Award-Winning Series

Viola Davis would receive tons of critical acclaim for her role in How to Get Away with Murder, becoming the first Black woman to win the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy. Certainly, come for Davis’ performance, but stay for the engrossing and fun narrative that manages to keep your interest through all 90 episodes.

Fans feel like the show’s final two seasons weren’t quite as strong as the previous seasons, but they were still warmly received, and the series got to end on its own terms rather than being canceled before viewers could get a satisfying end

Ideal For A Binge

While How to Get Away with Murder might not be the most original concept for a show out there, there’s more than enough to like about it, and it makes for a perfect binge-watch. If you’re one of the many who has been ripping through seasons of Suits and Grey’s Anatomy in a matter of days, then this show will scratch that same itch. And unlike Grey’s Anatomy, there aren’t over 400 episodes to catch up with.

One Of Netflix’s Most Popular Titles

How to Get Away with Murder could be better described as a manageable binge, as it has enough content to sink your teeth into but not so much that you get overwhelmed with the prospect of starting the show in the first place. Viola Davis is sure to keep you seated throughout the six seasons, and we should see the Oscar winner pop up in some more DC projects soon, so this is a great show to hold fans over until then. You can stream How to Get Away with Murder on Netflix now.
