Netflix Sci-Fi Comedy Oscar Winner Is One Of The Most Unique Movies Of The Decade

Everything Everywhere All At Once on Netflix starts simple enough with Michelle Yeoh’s Evelyn Quan Wang learning that her struggling laundromat is being audited by the IRS. However, Evelyn soon finds herself as an unlikely interdimensional hero who must save the multiverse.

If that sounds like tonal whiplash, know that co-directors and co-writers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert manage to perfectly balance all of the elements of the film, including comedy, drama, an immigrant narrative, martial arts, and so much more.

Everything Everywhere All At Once on Netflix has more than just fantastic direction and a fantastic script going for it, though. It also has an amazing cast who all put in top-notch performances to make the film come to life. Anchoring the film is the always-incredible Michelle Yeoh, who won a well-deserved Best Actress Oscar for the role. Along with being Yeoh’s first Best Actress Oscar, she also made history by being the first Asian Best Actress winner.

But Yeoh isn’t the only one who turned in an award-worthy performance, as Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, and James Hong also all give Everything Everywhere All At Once their all. So much so that Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actor, Jamie Lee Curtis won Best Supporting Actress, and Stephanie Hsu was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, only losing out to her co-star in the same film. The film also took home Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.

The Academy doesn’t always get things right, but it was right on the money with Everything Everywhere All At Once. The film deserves all its awards for being incredibly bold, fresh, and unique. Despite being only a couple of years old, the film already tops many people’s favorite sci-fi or favorite films list.

It’s not hard to see why either, as Everything Everywhere All At Once on Netflix has something for everyone. It’s poignant, it has themes that many people can relate to, it’s genuinely laugh-out-loud funny, and it has top-notch action, stunts, and special effects that are just as good as any expensive blockbuster.

It was also only made on a budget of $14 to $25 million, which is easily made back by grossing $143.4 million worldwide.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is one of the easiest recommendations to make in years to any fans of sci-fi, martial arts, comedy, family dramas, or really any fans of film in general.
