Dwayne Johnson Regrets Biden Endorsement And Calls Out Woke Culture, Political Strategy Already Starting?

“The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was one I thought was the best decision for me at that time,” Dwayne Johnson shared in the interview.

“The takeaway after that was it caused an incredible amount of division. I realize now going into this election, I will not do that.”

Johnson did not go as far as saying he regrets who he voted for, but merely that he will be keeping his political affiliation to himself in the coming Presidential election.

However, with it looking poised to be a Biden versus Trump rematch, one would have to assume that barring major regrets, that Johnson would be inclined to vote similarly as the last time.

Dwayne Johnson has been known to be very careful with his public image, which is understandable since he has one of the largest social media followings of any individual in the world. With so many eyes and ears upon him, he is no doubt conscious of putting a lot of thought and care into everything he says.

Perhaps that is also why during his Fox interview, he expressed frustration with the growing prevalence of woke culture and the swift backlash it has for so many celebrities.

“Today’s cancel culture, woke culture, division, etc — that really bugs me,” said Dwayne Johnson.

He elaborated that he feels many public figures are effectively walking on eggshells and trying to present a finely curated public image to avoid upsetting anyone. Johnson is aggravated that modern society has become that way.

“In the spirit of that, you either succumb to that and be what other people want you to be, or you be yourself and be real … and that might make people upset and piss people off, and that’s okay.”

There have also been rumors for at least a decade now about the possibility of Dwayne Johnson pursuing a political career himself and potentially running for President.

It certainly would not be unprecedented, with Jesse Ventura starting out as a wrestler before becoming a governor. Meanwhile, before Glenn Jacobs became Mayor of Knox County, he performed as the masked brother of The Undertaker known as Kane.

And Donald Trump himself had a foray in the WWE, briefly feuding with Vince McMahon and ultimately getting beat up at WrestleMania by Stone Cold Steve Austin.

However, for anyone hoping for a similar political trajectory for Dwayne Johnson, he said it is not going to happen. Johnson admitted he had once upon a time considered going that route, but with the passage of time his family has become his primary focus now.

Not to mention, he is also extremely busy in his acting career, being one of the highest-grossing action movie stars of all time. Johnson has been attached to major movie franchises like The Fast and The Furious movies, the rebooted Jumanji franchise, and the hit Disney movie Moana.

All in all, it sounds like the takeaway from Dwayne Johnson’s Fox interview is that he will be doing his best to remain politically neutral.

It might not be a message many fans will be happy to hear, as many feel having a platform as big as The Rock’s means it should be used to raise awareness of important causes. However, evidently his past usage of his platform in that way left him feeling it did more harm than good.
