Werewolf Supernatural Drama Features The Wildest Twist, Watch Without Netflix

Forgotten among several other similar shows, this werewolf-themed show has a unique twist. Based on a series of books written by Kelley Armstrong entitled Women of the Otherworld, it follows Elena Michaels, played by Smallville’s Supergirl, Laura Vandervoort. 

Mainly, Elena is the only living female lycan, which she sees as an overwhelming role. This prompts her to leave the Stonehaven werewolf pack for Toronto and seek a normal life as a 25-year-old. However, her plans are disrupted as she is summoned back by the pack’s leader, Jeremy, when it comes under attack by unknown enemies. 

Bitten then jumps into a popular love-triangle story we have seen in such shows as Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and Hemlock Grove among other titles. Once Elena is back, her former boyfriend and the man who turned her into a werewolf, Clayton Danvers, does everything he can to get her back, against the desires of her human boyfriend, Phillip.

Despite the love triangle being an age-old story, Bitten is far away from the brooding teenage vampires and angsty werewolf packs. Thanks to Elena being depicted as a strong, independent woman, the story leads us into the perseverance of the pack. 

With the outside threat looming over the pack, Elena and others must work together to uncover secrets and save their legacy. 

The story of Bitten extends far beyond the initial premise of Elena Michaels being the lone female lycan. She has survived the First Change after being bitten thanks to her unique heritage. Her biological father is a werewolf, while her mother is the daughter of a werewolf. 

This shaped Elena’s identity long before we saw her first time as a girl moving to Toronto in search of a normal life and love. 

Thanks to praised acting chops by Laura’s co-stars, Greyston Holt as Clayton Danvers, Greg Bryk as Jeremy Danvers, and Steve Lund as Nick Sorrentino, Bitten was a popular show when it came out, but it was overwhelmed by the glut of similar series. 

This resulted in Bitten being canceled after season 3, but that was just enough to tell its story. The series is full of battles, including a second-season cliffhanger, and much more that is worth the watch. 

Nevertheless, if you missed all the werewolf supernatural drama of this show, you are in luck. Although it can’t be found available on Netflix, other streaming platforms still give support and love to this unique show. 

It initially aired on Space, a Canadian channel known for science fiction and fantasy, premiering on January 11, 2014, only to be acquired also by SyFy for airing in the USA. These days, Bitten has received a resurgence and can be watched on Amazon’s FreeVee.
