Interview With The Vampire Season 2 Goes Bigger Than Ever, See The Extended Look Into Fan-Favorite Series Return
AMC released an extended-look trailer of Interview with the Vampire Season 2, and the season looks like it will be even bigger and bolder than the first. The trailer gives us a look at the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) in Europe. Of course, we also get a look at what other key characters are up to, like Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia (Delainey Hayles).
Importantly, Interview with the Vampire Season 2 will also show us when Louis first meets the vampire Armand (Assad Zaman) in Paris…
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 will continue Louis’ retelling of his life story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). According to AMC’s description, the season will pick up shortly after the events in 1940’s New Orleans when Louis and Claudia conspired to kill Lestat. We’ll also learn about Louis’ adventures in Europe as he attempts to discover Old World Vampires and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris.
Importantly, Interview with the Vampire Season 2 will also show us when Louis first meets the vampire Armand (Assad Zaman) in Paris, whose love affair has “devastating consequences.” The series is based on Anne Rice’s novel of the same name and is created by Rolin Jones, who also serves as showrunner. Jones executive produces the series with Mark Johnson, Mark Taylor, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice.

AMC’s Interview with the Vampire Season 2 will undoubtedly continue its engaging changes to the source material while remaining a mostly faithful adaptation. One of the most notable changes in the series from the novel was changing Louis’ pre-vampiric origins as a white plantation owner in the 1700s to a mixed-race pimp in 1900s New Orleans. The series also depicts the queer relationships that were left out of the film adaptation.
Interview with the Vampire was first adapted as a film directed by Neil Jordan that starred Tom Cruise as Lestat, Brad Pitt as Louis, Kirsten Dunst as Claudia, and Christian Slater as the reporter. A sequel was also made called Queen of the Damned that adapted the third novel of Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series. The film was met with commercial success and generally positive reviews.

The Interview with the Vampire TV series has also been met with largely positive reviews, with Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid receiving particular praise for their performances as Louis and Lestat. The show also did well in the ratings, ranking as the #1 new series launch ever for the streaming service AMC+. So, it’s definitely not surprising that the series was renewed for Season 2.
Interview with the Vampire is part of AMC’s slowly growing Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe projects, which also includes the AMC series Mayfair Witches based on Rice’s novel trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches. A short form spin-off series of Interview with the Vampire titled Night Island is also in development with Jonathan Ceniceroz attached to write.
Along with Interview with the Vampire, Mayfair Witches is also set to get a Season 2. In January of last year, it was also announced that there were discussions of a crossover between the two shows. In the meantime, you can look forward to the premiere of Interview with the Vampire Season 2 on May 12.
