While nothing has been firmly set in stone, it’s rumored that Shannon will appear as a well-known Los Angeles businesswoman who packs her bags and embarks on a new life as an investigator in New York.
Returning For Season 4
The news of Molly Shannon’s addition coincides with the reveal that the iconic Meryl Streep will reprise her role as Loretta Durkin in the new batch of episodes. This means that Loretta and Oliver (Martin Short) will pick up their romance that left off on a cliffhanger in the Season 3 finale of Only Murders In the Building.
Of course, along with Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez will also return to the hit series for another season of solving crimes one step at a time, with the murder of Jane Lynch’s Saz Pataki being the main focus for at least the first few episodes.

Viewers Can’t Get Enough Of Only Murders
As for Only Murders In the Building, the series initially dropped on Hulu back in 2021 and was an immediate hit among subscribers. The base plot of the production is that Short, Martin, and Gomez’s characters all share the common home of The Arconia, a lavish apartment building in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and also all share an affinity for true crime podcasts. After a series of murders take place in the building, the trio gets on the case and makes a podcast of their own.
The Perfect Trio
The success of the first season of Only Murders In the Building was easy to see right from the beginning as audiences loved the comedic hijinks of the two decades-long names in the biz working alongside Gomez. The chemistry between the three is one of the best parts about Only Murders and something that works and is only made better given that they’re all close friends outside work as well.
Plenty Of Guest Stars
Over the first three seasons, guest stars including Jimmy Fallon, Amy Schumer, Shirley MacLaine, Paul Rudd, Tina Fey, and Cara Delevingne have all graced the production, making Molly Shannon the latest in a long line of stars to step through the doorway of The Arconia.
