Mark Ruffalo Walks Back Upcoming Marvel Hulk Appearance
Well, it looks like Mark Ruffalo is up to his old Marvel tricks as the actor backtracked on his original statement that Bruce Banner aka The Hulk would appear in the upcoming film, Captain America: Brave New World. The best part is that this wasn’t simply a mincing of words as Ruffalo was directly asked about appearing in the film to which he very enthusiastically and certainly said, “Yeah. It’s going to be great!” Later, he walked back his statement claiming that he thought the interviewer was asking whether the upcoming Anthony Mackie-led feature would be a good one for the studio.
You Can’t Leave Him Alone For A Second
What does this mean for us? It means that we must protect Mark Ruffalo at all costs because – bless his heart – he just can’t talk about Marvel without having a foot-in-mouth moment. Notoriously known as having one of the biggest mouths in the franchise (often tied with Tom Holland), the studio used to send Ruffalo on press junkets with fellow cast members like Benedict Cumberbatch to make sure he kept his mouth closed. Still, he’s managed to let a few things slide over the last decade which has only made the star more endearing to the public.
A Bad Time To Lose The Hulk
Mark Ruffalo’s latest oopsie is especially a bummer for Marvel fans as many have been on the fence about how the next lineup of films, including Captain America: Brave New World, will pan out. Sure, it’s always exciting to have new characters and actors introduced into the family, but having a name like Mark Ruffalo or Chris Hemsworth attached just feels like getting into a warm bath. And, even with Anthony Mackie starring in the upcoming film, there are still those who are worried that it won’t be the proper blending of old with new.
Brave New World Has Had A Rough Road
Brave New World has already undergone several cast changes and has appeared in the headlines recently as a project in trouble with lots of reshoots around the corner. The film’s production was largely affected by the historic writers’ and actors’ strikes with a handful of stars forced to depart due to scheduling conflicts. However, such conflicts were never the case for Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk has never been set to join the rest of his Marvel team in the approaching battle.
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier 2
Along with Anthony Mackie (and without Mark Ruffalo), Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World will also star names like Liv Tyler and Harrison Ford. The film acts as a follow-up to Disney+’s 2021 show The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which depicted the hardship of Sam Wilson (Mackie) after he picked up Captain America’s (Chris Evans) shield for the first time. By the end of the series, Sam has fully stepped into his place as Earth’s next Captain and is ready to duke it out with all the baddies who dare put him to the test.
Mark Ruffalo’s Other Projects
Although he won’t be spotted in green or otherwise when Captain America: Brave New World lands in theaters in 2025, Mark Ruffalo has some other projects up his sleeve that don’t include Marvel. The actor can currently be seen in theaters opposite Emma Stone in the multi-Academy Award nominated Yorgos Lanthimos film, Poor Things. Next, Ruffalo will appear in Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi flick, Mickey 17, alongside a cast that also includes Robert Pattinson and Steven Yeun.
