A Quiet Place: Day One gives fans a good look at what the world was like in the moments leading up to when the unnamed extraterrestrials took over the Earth and quickly turned it into a nightmarish hellscape. Many fans might have been speculating what those early days were like and how humans adapted to being forced to silence themselves lest they become hunted by the invaders that have made Earth their new home. The fact that fans are aware that this film isn’t in direct line with any of the characters in the previous films also lends a broader sense of fear, as the fate of any character they encounter on screen is powerfully uncertain.

The road to completing production for the newest A Quiet Place film took time and persistence. The film was originally announced to be in production back in 2020, but creative differences between essential crewmembers and the studio cost some valuable time as director Jeff Nichols bailed on the project. Months after John Krasinski’s script was finally finished in 2021, Paramount announced that Michael Sarnoski would be taking over at the helm.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o stars in the film, giving what looks to be her most brilliant performance since she took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years a Slave in 2014. Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou rounds out a spectacular cast that is unmatched compared to the others in the universe of A Quiet Place. Add in the fact that Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson in Season 4 of Stranger Things) has a starring role, and you’ve got a film that seems on course to truly eclipse its namesake.
