Amazingly, it is based on the true story of the Special Operations Executive, a group so secretive that the members were referred to as “Churchill’s Secret Army.” Gus March-Phillips was a member of this group, and he led expeditions into Axis territory. The Henry Cavill movie is based on Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperados of WWII by Damien Lewis.

Filling World War 2 with anachronistic rock music would be a very Guy Ritchie thing to do, but like his millions of fans, we’re here for it.
