Kevin Costner Shares Throwback Pic To His First Movie
Kevin Costner has been working in Hollywood for over four decades and brought us a lot of amazing films over the years. The long-working actor recently celebrated his birthday and took to Instagram to share a nostalgic throwback to his early days, before he was such a famous and celebrated actor. Tellingly, the picture seems to be from one of his earliest roles, the Western film Silverado.

Silverado could certainly be considered Kevin Costner’s breakout role, as the actor quickly rose to superstardom after starring in the film. Soon after Silverado, he would star in the film that cemented his status in The Untouchables and No Way Out. Soon after, Costner would make his directorial debut with the film Dances with Wolves, netting himself Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director in the process.
Yellowstone
Kevin Costner would star in many Westerns throughout the years, and these Western roles would become some of his most iconic and beloved roles. One of Costner’s most memorable roles in recent years was the patriarch of a Montana ranch in the TV series Yellowstone. After five seasons, Costner will make his last appearance in the second part of Yellowstone’s final season.
Yellowstone Goes On Without Kevin Costner
The most recent update about Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 says that it will come out in November 2024, so we have a little longer to wait to see Kevin Costner say goodbye to the role of John Dutton. Fortunately, Taylor Sheridan is continuing the Yellowstone universe after Costner leaves by giving fans additional seasons of some spin-offs that have already started and giving us new spin-offs as well, like the recently released Lawmen: Bass Reeves and the upcoming spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey.
Horizon: An American Saga
Meanwhile, Kevin Costner will be taking on one of his biggest undertakings in years with his upcoming two-part film epic Horizon: An American Saga. Costner is co-writing, directing, producing, and starring in Horizon: An American Saga, which is set in pre and post-Civil War America and chronicles the expansion of the American West.
Along with Costner, the film boasts an incredible cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, and Jamie Campbell Bower.
2024 Is The Year Of Kevin Costner Westerns
Not only will we get to see the final half of Yellowstone’s final season this year, but Kevin Costner is also releasing both parts of Horizon: An American Saga. Fans of Costner and Westerns are going to have a lot to look forward to in the back half of 2024. Horizon: An American Saga is set for a June 28, 2024 release date, and Chapter 2 is scheduled to be released on August 16, 2024.
With the work Kevin Costner is doing on Horizon, it appears he doesn’t have time for much else on his schedule. We’ll just have to wait and see what Costner decides to do next after Horizon comes out. In the meantime, it’s certainly cool to see how far Costner has come since the Silverado days.
