The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Trailer Brings Rick And Michonne Back In Full Force
AMC just dropped the trailer for the new series, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, and from the looks of it, fans of Rick and Michonne have a lot to look forward to.
The trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live certainly sets up a narrative arc of the two working their way toward each other. It also ends on a remarkably hopeful note that could portend a climax for the entire Walking Dead universe. The final shot is of Michonne looking into the camera, beginning to smile against a strong wind as we hear her voice in narration say, “We can make this whole damn world ours if we want to.”
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is set to premiere on AMC on February 25.
The decidedly hopeful tone struck at the end of the trailer does hint at the idea that this series is leading toward some type of resolution. At the very least, we expect we will likely see the reunion of Michonne and Rick.
The new trailer centers on the pair searching for one another while continuing to battle walkers at every turn. The new series, which focuses on the fan-favorite characters, was originally entitled The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne, indicating their centrality to the story. Fans of the Walking Dead universe lost track of both characters in the 9th and 10th seasons, respectively, of the original series.
Michonne also made a brief appearance in the series finale of The Walking Dead, though actor Danai Gurira left the show during Season 10 after Michonne found evidence that Rick was still alive and went searching for him.
Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead beginning with its first episode in 2010, left the series in 2019 to spend more time with his family—especially his two young children. The series was shot in Atlanta, Georgia, and his family lived in the UK, meaning he spent a great deal of time away from them over his first nine years playing Rick. Thankfully, his character was not killed in the manner so many major characters in the series have been, and he was able to return for the series finale.
Michonne also made a brief appearance in the series finale of The Walking Dead, though actor Danai Gurira left the show during Season 10 after Michonne found evidence that Rick was still alive and went searching for him. As had been speculated, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will pick up her character’s journey as she searches for Rick. After all these years, fans are certainly hoping to see this couple finally reunited in the new AMC series.

Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln both serve as executive producers on The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, along with Scott M. Gimple, Denise Huth, and Brian Bockrath. Grimple, who co-created The Walking Dead and served as showrunner for Seasons 4 through 8, also co-created the new series with Danai Gurira. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is set to premiere on AMC on February 25.
