The escalating assault was engaged by NYPD officers, who attempted to de-escalate the situation. However, the driver disregarded their orders and fled the scene; in his escape, he drove against traffic and onto the sidewalks.
From there, the reckless driver continued his onslaught, colluding with two unoccupied parked vehicles and another vehicle on the road, injuring two additional police officers and the Mercedes’ passenger.
