Now, according to Endgadget, Amazon and Games Workshop finally broke their year-long silence on Cavill’s highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe for Amazon, stating that the company had signed a “full agreement” contract with Amazon. This effectively means that the next stage in the project’s development can begin.
Henry Cavill’s Warhammer Deal Is Complete
And there are several reasons that actually back up their decision. Number one is Henry Cavill’s love and fascination with Warhammer 40k, which he isn’t shy about. The number two would be his passionate adherence to the particular narrative, which we previously saw in The Witcher—which is also cited as the possible reason for him leaving the series. On the other hand, Games Workshop is very protective of its IP. If you thought Nintendo was bad, you weren’t introduced to Games Workshop.
The Adaptations Will Stay True To Source Material
Henry Cavill’s adherence to the lore and narrative actually plays well with Games Workshop’s protective stance, thus ensuring that Amazon’s producers and other writers won’t try to water down the series to make it appealing to wider audiences.
Warhammer’s 40k‘s fandom counts tens, perhaps even hundreds of millions of people, so watering down the content to make it appealing to an even broader number of people would only anger the core audience. Why? Well, in the grim darkness of the far future, there’s only war.

Warhammer 40k is a massive universe with a rather broad narrative. A good example of this is the Horus Heresy novel series, which is set in the 31st millennium and depicts a galaxy-spanning civil war within the Imperium of Man, initiated by Horus, the Warmaster, against the Emperor of Mankind.
This event marks a major turning point in the history of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, leading to the grim, dystopian setting that the game is known for. This novel series alone is comprised of 62 published volumes for Amazon and Henry Cavill to use as source material.

That’s 62 published volumes revolving around a single major event in the history of the W40k universe, not counting all other major events in the lore, like The Great Crusade, The Siege of Terra, The 13th Black Crusade and the Fall of Cadia, The Opening of the Great Rift, and so on. So, while The Witcher and the new DC Universe might not feature Henry Cavill in the future, it would seem that the nerd superstar has found himself a new home in the grim darkness of Warhammer 40k, with plenty of material to adapt for the fans of the franchise.
