Jenna Ortega Seduces In Miller’s Girl Trailer, Proves She’s One Of The Best Young Actresses Today
Lionsgate Movies just dropped the trailer for the upcoming Jenna Ortega film, Miller’s Girl, and it looks like the Wednesday star will be diving into some pretty dark territory without the help of a quirky Danny Elfman score to move things along.
But although Ortega is taking on a more sinister role, she still boasts her signature deadpan charm that we all love her for.
Though the trailer doesn’t tell us much about the overall plot, it’s safe to say that we’re going to be dealing with a troubled relationship between a student and her teacher. Check out Jenna Ortega in Miller’s Girl.
Miller’s Girl centers on Jenna Ortega’s Cairo Sweet, a talented student with a lust for literature who is tasked with writing a short story in the style of her favorite author under the guidance of her teacher Jonathan Miller (Martin Freeman).

But their relationship gets complicated when the subject matter of her story becomes apparent. The primary source of tension reveals itself when Jonathan reads the story and realizes that he’s the subject of Cairo’s desire.
When Jonathan tells her to rewrite his story or he’ll fail her, Cairo’s friend suggests that she has the power to ruin his life. What starts out as a platonic relationship between a teacher and his student escalates quickly when Jonathan realizes that his job, and his marriage, stand to be destroyed by Cairo.
In other words, Miller’s Girl will show us a side of Jenna Ortega that we’ve never seen before.
Before Lionsgate Films picked up the distribution rights for Miller’s Girl, the script was acquired by Seth Rogen’s production company, Point Grey Pictures, in 2016.
It wasn’t until 2022 that the film was further developed and cast with Jenna Ortega, Martin Freeman, Gideon Adlon, Bashir Salahuddin, Dagmara Domińczyk, and Christine Adams.

Though the film is now being distributed by Lionsgate Films, Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg remain attached to the project, as the film was produced through Point Grey Pictures.
Miller’s Girl is just one of many titles that is filling up Jenna Ortega’s release slate. Scheduled for a January 26 2024 premiere, the film will come out just a few months before Wednesday ramps up for its season 2 production run, which will take place in Ireland this coming April.
And if that’s not enough Jenna Ortega action to satiate your need for dry quips laced with gothic undertones, you’ll be pleased to know that Beetlejuice 2 finished filming on November 30 and is scheduled for a September 6, 2024 theatrical release.

In addition to Miller’s Girl and Beetlejuice 2, Jenna Ortega will be starring alongside Paul Rudd in the dark A24 comedy, Death of a Unicorn.
She will also star in the upcoming romantic drama Winter Spring Summer or Fall. While both titles are currently in the post-production phases, we don’t have an official release date for either title.
Ortega will also appear in an upcoming (and currently untitled) Trey Edward Shultz film, which is also in the post-production phases, but shrouded in mystery at the present time.
