The Mandalorian Season 4 Fate Revealed And It’s A Huge Relief
If you’re anything like us, you’ve been jonesing for another Grogu fix ever since The Mandalorian Season 3 ended earlier this year. Well, good news: according to The Bespin Bulletin, The Mandalorian Season 4 is slated to begin filming early next year. This is the way.
Season 4 Begins Filming In Early 2024
While most fans didn’t believe Lucasfilm would be dumb enough to kill the one Disney+ Star Wars series that’s universally loved, it’s still a relief to hear beyond a shadow of a doubt that there will be another season. The Mandalorian Season 4 was apparently supposed to start shooting in late September, but the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes caused Disney to postpone filming indefinitely. Now that the strikes are over, everyone’s favorite masked man and his adorable AF little green boi can safely begin the next chapter of their adventures.
Mando Spills The Beans
The Bespin Bulletin claims to have gotten this news directly from actor Brendan Wayne—the actual human inside Din Djarin’s armor 90 percent of the time—who recently let it slip that The Mandalorian Season 4 was gearing up to start filming soon. The Bulletin’s sources have narrowed down the beginning of filming to either late January or February of 2024. February seems like the more likely bet, with filming predicted to wrap by August if Season 4 follows Season 3’s six-month shooting schedule. When factoring post-production and possible re-shoots, this puts The Mandalorian Season 4’s premiere sometime in 2025.
Rumors About The Movie
This news would seem to contradict earlier reports that Lucasfilm was seriously considering turning The Mandalorian Season 4 into a movie. The movie idea seems to have stemmed from the strikes and was apparently only ever an idea. Various sources have confirmed that the next time we see Mando, it will definitely be on Disney+
Pedro Pascal’s Involvement
Fans who were worried about a shift in direction for the series following a Bo Katan-centric Season 3 can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that if Brendan Wayne is coming back, so is Din Djarin. Recent rumors about Pedro Pascal not coming back for The Mandalorian Season 4 had many fans worried that the series would no longer focus on Din and Grogu going forward. Given that Pedro has spent less and less time physically on set with each respective season of The Mandalorian, there’s a good chance Pascal’s absence just means Brendan Wayne will be in armor even more than he was last season.Pedro Pascal’s contribution to the last season of The Mandalorian was almost exclusively voiceover, and there’s no reason to expect him not to continue in that capacity even if he never sets foot on set.
New Star Wars Coming Soon
In the meantime, Star Wars fans have plenty of content to look forward to next year while The Mandalorian Season 4 is being filmed. Two new live-action series, The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, are set to make their Disney+ debut next year. In addition, the animated Bad Batch series will be back with a new season, as well as last year’s Tales of the Jedi anthology series. The highly anticipated Andor Season 2 has unfortunately been pushed back to early 2025. At least The Mandalorian Season 4 will have some company when it airs.
