Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Star Joins Sci-Fi Epic Series For Season 3

Alexander Siddig’s addition, which Deadline reports, will likely contribute a fresh dimension to the fan-favorite and critical darling streaming series. The show, of course, is based on Isaac Asimon’s iconic literary trilogy. 

Led by the charismatic acting duo of Jared Harris and Lee Pace, Foundation tells a sprawling tale, one delving into the riveting sage of The Foundation—a crew of interspace exiles vying to steer civilization away from its prophesized demise.

Together, they defy the Galactic Empire to save it from its own certain destruction. The narrative primarily revolves around a novel concept in the sci-fi canon: psychohistory. This fictional science fuses history, sociology, and mathematics to predict the future. 

Even before the announcement of Alexander Siddig joining the crew for Foundation Season 3, the show was compelling—especially its narrative.

The initial storyline largely follows a brilliant mathematician, Hari Seldon, who employs psychohistory to foresee the inevitable downfall of the Galactic Empire.

To mitigate this, he established the Foundation, a hidden outpost of knowledge and tech striving to preserve humanity’s wisdom and shape the future. 

David S. Goyer serves as showrunner for the series and executive producer, while Skydance Television produces the project as a whole.

Its epic storytelling and talented cast has drawn audiences and critical approval. 

Alexander Siddig will play Dr. Ebling Mis in Foundation Season 3, a willful, self-taught psychohistorian and devoted admirer of Hari Seldon (played brilliantly by Jared Harris). Fans expect Siddig’s inclusion as a series regular to enrich the already deep and complex streaming series. 

Fans will remember that the plotline of the show’s second season was set over a century after the first season’s events, in an era of intensifying tension across the galaxy.

Essential characters, like Hari, Gaal, and Salvor, cross paths with a colony of mentalists—i.e., beings possessing psychic abilities, posing a potential threat to psychohistory.

Following his work as a lead in the Apple TV+ drama series Shantaram, Alexander Siddig’s upcoming role in Foundation Season 3 marks his return to the streaming service.

Very busy, apparently, Siddig is also set to feature in the supernatural series Fallen for the Brazilian streaming platform Globoplay. He’s a veteran actor whose extensive television and film credits include Gotham, Netflix’s The Spy, The Kennedys After Camelot, Deep State, 21 Bridges, and Skylines.

A legendary entry in the enormous, enduring Star Trek universe, Deep Space Nine thrilled audiences with its unique premise, authentic characters, and brainy storytelling. The show aired from 1993 to 1999 and remains an adored later-day installment in sci-fi television history. 

As its name suggests, the series was set on Deep Space Nine, a space station itself beside a strategically vital wormhole (given these sci-fi fixtures, Alexander Siddig should have no trouble acclimating to Foundation Season 3).

Notably, the series departed from the exploration-focused narrative style of its predecessors, providing a more stationary—even politically charged—backdrop, permitting the series to explore severe moral dilemmas, culture clashes, and the genuine trauma of war in real depth.
