DC Movies Are Going To Be Free To Stream
When it comes to DC flops like Suicide Squad and Black Adam, the general consensus among fans is, “They couldn’t pay me to watch that crap.” Well, Warner Bros. may not have gotten desperate enough to offer money in exchange for views (yet), but they’ve gone ahead and done the next best thing. According to a recent post from Variety’s X account, a bunch of DC movies, including the ones above, will soon be free to stream on Tubi.
The ad-supported streaming platform recently made a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. that will see some of DC’s best (and worst) movies available to watch on Tubi for free. DC content will hit Tubi in waves, starting with Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), Superman: The Movie (1978), and Superman II (1980), all available Tuesday. In addition to the above movies, the TV series Batwoman, Gotham, and Krypton will also be available to stream starting Tuesday.
For anyone thinking that Zazlav is only selling off his DC content to Tubi and other streamers, there is a slew of non-DC movies and series also coming to the free streamer.
The next wave of DC content will hit Tubi on December 31 and will include the DC animated movies Batman: Death in the Family, DC Showcase: Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam, The Death of Superman, Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox, Son of Batman, and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. The live-action offerings arriving the same day include the series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Stargirl, and Swamp Thing, as well as the film Constantine (2005).
“The addition of recent blockbuster movies and fan-favorite series from the DC library is a monumental offering for Tubi viewers.”
Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson
Meanwhile, DC is saving the big guns like The Batman (2022), Wonder Woman (2017), and Aquaman (2018) for some time in 2024. Unfortunately, DC is also saddling Tubi with some of its certified stinkers in 2024, including Suicide Squad (2017) and Black Adam (2022). This new move is in line with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zazlav’s recent attempts to pimp out the company’s DC output to any streamer willing to pay rather than concentrating on getting customers to come to Max for all of their Detective Comics content.
Some DC movies like The Batman are already streaming on Max competitors Netflix and Amazon Prime Video ahead of their Tubi debuts. Given Zazlav’s firesale approach to Warner Bros.’ various IPs as of late, the responses on X were fairly predictable.

X user @MOVIESTVMAD commented, “Zazlav would lease out his grandma if he could right now.”
Meanwhile, another X account, @GratefulDave93 wrote “WBD catalog is the town bicycle. Everyone gets a turn using it.”
For anyone thinking that Zazlav is only selling off his DC content to Tubi and other streamers, there is a slew of non-DC movies and series also coming to the free streamer. Judge Mathis, People’s Court, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Blade: The Series—a Marvel show owned by DC’s parent company, we might add because this truly is the darkest timeline—are all headed to Tubi next year, as well as Annabelle (2014) and the Friday trilogy.
“The addition of recent blockbuster movies and fan-favorite series from the DC library is a monumental offering for Tubi viewers,” Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson said. The Tubi exec continued by saying the streaming platform is “pleased” to have such “wonderful partners” in Warner Bros. Discovery. Lewinson claims that the move is an attempt to expand the reach of DC’s “superhero franchise films and series” by offering them for free on Tubi.
