Twisted Metal Season 2 Fate Decided
Audiences who have been waiting to hear the official word on Season 2 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal can finally shift things into gear as Variety reports that the show will return for a follow-up installment. Showrunner, writer, and executive producer Michael Jonathan Smith gave a huge “Sweet Tooth-sized thank you” to the video game-turned-series’ fanbase who supported the highly-anticipated first batch of episodes. With the dedicated following now looking towards a continuation in the story, Twisted Metal seems like an unstoppable force for the streamer.
Anthony Mackie Stars In Twisted Metal
The first season of Twisted Metal introduced audiences to Anthony Mackie’s (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) John Doe, an outgoing and extroverted milkman suffering from amnesia doing his best to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Gunning for a chance at a better life, John Doe is tasked with ensuring that a mysterious package ends up in the right hands. The catch – he’ll have to face off against a number of incredibly dangerous foes as he speeds across the United States to his final destination.
The Cast
Along with Anthony Mackie, Twisted Metal also featured performances by Stephanie Beatriz (In The Heights), Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man: No Way Home), and professional wrestler Joe Seanoa with a vocal performance by Will Arnett (Arrested Development).
Filling out the show’s ensemble cast for Season 1 was Neve Campbell (the Scream franchise), Richard Cabral (American Crime), and Mike Mitchell (The Tomorrow War). While a call sheet hasn’t been announced for the show’s confirmed second season, audiences can expect many of these stars to return alongside some fresh faces.
Everything We Know About Season 2
Teasing the tales to come in Twisted Metal’s second season, Michael John Smith wrote that the show’s main trio – John Doe, Quiet, and Sweet Tooth – will be back on screen again, ready to do their best to survive the Twisted Metal tournament.
While it isn’t too much of a plot descriptor, it at least gives fans a broad idea of what Season 2 will bring. Although some dedicated game players were upset with how the show followed (or rather fell short of following) the original plot, there’s still plenty of time for Michael John Smith and the rest of the creative team to get things back on track, courtesy of the second season renewal.
When Will Filming Begin?
As for filming, no information was revealed as to when cameras will begin rolling on Twisted Metal’s second season. We know that Anthony Mackie has been beyond busy working his days away on Captain America: Brave New World, which is expected to land in theaters in early 2025.
The film, which will be Mackie’s first standalone feature as the titular character, has faced a tremendous number of reshoots and schedule changes, something that all Marvel productions seem to have in common these days.
Stream Twisted Metal On Peacock
Luckily, Twisted Metal Season 2’s production team has at least one good thing going for them as the writers’ and actors’ strike is now over, giving them a completely open door to get to work as soon as possible. Being that the series was reportedly Peacock’s most-binged original series during its first week, it’s likely that things will start up sooner rather than later. Stay tuned for more information surrounding the return of Twisted Metal.
