See Chevy Chase Reunite With His Christmas Vacation Co-Stars
The National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation star, Chevy Chase, has reunited with his Christmas Vacation stars Beverly D’Angelo and Randy Quaid at his first-ever Christmas Con. According to People, Chevy Chase was also joined by a co-star, Miriam Flynn, at the convention in Edison, New Jersey, in honor of their 1989 holiday classic.
The Christmas Vacation Reunion Held At The First-Ever Christmas Con
Taking place at the New Jersey Expo Center, the Christmas Con is best known for its roster of Christmas movie stars, which now include the aforementioned stars Chevy Chase, 80, D’Angelo, 72, Flynn, 71, and Quaid, 73. The previously announced Juliette Lewis dropped out of the reunion due to conflicting schedules ahead of the convention’s start on Friday. The aforementioned foursome starred in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, in which Chevy Chase plays a patriarch of the Griswold family.
Chevy Chase As Clark Griswold
Chevy Chase’s character in Christmas Vacation faces a series of unlucky happenstances while trying to host a traditional Christmas with his family, including his wife, daughter, and son, as well as extended relatives, like his wife’s cousin and her husband. The movie was a massive success, eventually topping the box-office charts and grossing $73 million domestically against a $25 million budget.
Chevy Chase Falls Off Stage
Chevy Chase was also joined on stage by his daughter and her boyfriend, Emily Chase, and Alex Baglieri, with many images landing on social media following the event. Chase’s attendance took place days after he took a tumble at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York, ahead of a talk about Christmas Vacation. In the video footage of the fall, Chase is seen coming onstage in a wheelchair to applause from the crowd. He stood up on his feet and walked to the front of the stage, where he fell forward and off the stage.
Falling off stage at 80 carries a high risk of injuries, and the iconic Christmas Vacation actor fell off a poorly lit section of the stage. He was helped back up, and his wife helped him to his seat while also reconfiguring his smartwatch, which alerted Chevy Chase of his fall—they jokingly reset the watch so that it wouldn’t call an ambulance. Hist representatives later stated that he wasn’t injured, partially thanks to all his falls on SNL, calling the actor’s fall a “little boo-boo.”
Chevy Chase Appears In Philadelphia On Rocky Day
Apart from his fall at Shea’s Performing Arts Center, he also visited the Philadelphia Museum of ART on Rocky Day—an event that paid tribute to actor and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone, 77. Christmas Vacation‘s Chevy Chase was seen in and out of a wheelchair, wearing a red puffer jacket over his white shirt and denim jeans while donning a white cap and red-rimmed glasses. He even stood up and posed with the Rambo actor in front of the Rocky statue—believe it or not, there are several of those statues around the world.
Recent Health Scare
Chevy Chase had a major health scare about two years ago when he spent five weeks in the hospital due to undisclosed heart issues, which was later revealed as a near-fatal heart failure. He jokingly added in a subsequent interview that his heart is now better, having been completely removed. It just proves that humor knows no age.
