Bruce Willis’ Family Filled With Happiness Thanks To Streaming

PEOPLE caught up with Bruce Willis’ daughter, Rumor Willis while attending an event at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California, earlier this week.

She spoke freely about how happy it made her and the family to see Moonlighting finally come to streaming. 

Rumor said that she was personally very excited to stream the show, but the rest of the family was “beyond ecstatic” to access the episodes so easily.

Rumor said the family “used to watch it on videotape” when speaking of her father’s first big on-screen project, Moonlighting. 

She explained that Bruce Willis used to have a closet filled “to the brim” with VHS tapes (before there were DVDs, kids), and the family would regularly watch various episodes of Moonlighting to pass the time.

The simple availability of streaming makes finding your favorite episode to watch in a hurry much more manageable. 

Bruce Willis starred in Moonlighting as Detective David Addison, alongside Cybill Shepherd as Madolyn “Maddie” Hayes.

The show’s basis centered around a private detective agency the two formed and the antics of managing the business together. 

Detective Addison, a struggling “die-hard” detective, paired up with Maddie, a former model, to create 67 episodes of genius. Bruce Willis and the cast of Moonlighting won numerous awards over the four years the show was running. 

Bruce Willis and the creators of Moonlighting won several Golden Globe Awards, People’s Choice Awards, and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. In 1987, Bruce Willis won an Emmy Award for Oustanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. 

Rumor Willis said that her dad’s performance in Moonlighting has “always been one of (her) favorite things”. Rumor and her partner Derek Richard Thomas welcomed a new baby girl to the world in April 2023, and she talked about how she often sees glimpses of her father in her new daughter’s facial expressions. 

According to Rumor Willis, Louetta Isley (her daughter) gets this stern look that vividly reminds her of Bruce Willis.

Rumor said Bruce Willis’ famous little side smirk (which her new baby also mimics) was especially present in his time on Moonlighting.

As the family manages to stay as positive as possible throughout the declining nature of their patriarch’s debilitating dementia diagnosis, the legacy of Bruce Willis is still burning bright in the hearts of his fans. 

Though the world will likely never see any new movies starring Bruce Willis, keeping his body of work alive will help us remember all he brought to the table on screen. 

Moonlighting was the beginning of a long and successful career in the life of a pretty extraordinary guy, and thankfully, the show is now streaming all five seasons on Hulu for those who have a subscription to the channel.
