Moon Knight Season 2 Actually Happening With Oscar Isaac?

According to Comic Book Movie Marvel Studios is looking to bring back Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law for a second go-round. Previously, Marvel had treated its Disney+ shows as limited television events rather than traditional episodic television. So far, out of the nine original Disney+ series’ only Loki has gotten a Season 2.

Now, though, it appears that Marvel Studios has decided to take a more traditional approach when it comes to its streaming content. Not only is Marvel giving Moon Knight and the other series mentioned above a Season 2, but it’s also committing to a more standard TV model. One where a series is free to have stand-alone episodes rather than making the whole thing feel like one long movie.

“We want to do shows that can only be shows. I want to continue to make them even more episodic,” Marvel’s head, Kevin Feige, said earlier this year. The President of Marvel Studios admitted that the idea of making their shows more “episodic” might seem “counterintuitive,” but the exec thinks there’s “something fun” about kicking back and enjoying an episode of television without any continuity baggage.

Feige went on to invoke the name of sci-fi royalty, Star Trek, to help him make his point. “I still find it soothing to watch an episode of Next Gen with a beginning and an end,” Feige stated. That doesn’t mean, of course, that Moon Knight Season 2 is going to space or anything, but expect more stand-alone episodes when the series returns.

There are rumbles that Marvel’s TV output might stick more closely to the small screen as well, following Kamala Khan’s unsuccessful transition to a movie character in The Marvels. Jennifer Walters, of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law fame, was supposed to make an appearance in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, but Kevin Feige seems to have 86’d that plan in favor of giving the green goddess another shot at television stardom instead. As cool as it would be to see Moon Knight swinging around New York with Spider-Man, don’t expect it to happen anytime soon unless Tom Holland gets revealed as a guest star for Moon Knight Season 2.

As for whether Moon Knight Season 2 will include Oscar Isaac, that remains to be seen. Isaac was sly enough to dodge the usual multi-project contract that Marvel suckers most actors into, making his involvement in the MCU past Moon Knight Season 1 an uncertainty. Late last year, Isaac gave an interview where he confirmed that he and Marvel had been in talks for the actor to come back for Moon Knight Season 2.

The actor called the conversations with Marvel “pleasant,” making it sound like he’s open to returning to the MCU under the right circumstances. Those circumstances no doubt involve haggling over a new contract for Moon Knight Season 2 that will net Isaac a bigger paycheck than Season 1.
