Brendan Fraser Is Making His Own Lost In Translation
2022 was the year of the comeback for Brendan Fraser after the actor returned to Hollywood, starred in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, and wound up nabbing the Academy Award for Best Actor. Now the actor is all set with his next project as he’s been cast in Searchlight Pictures’ Rental Family. Directed by Mitsuyo Miyazaki, who goes by Hikari, the comedy-drama has yet to announce more cast members, but with Fraser in the lead, it’s off to a great start.
Rental Family is set to begin filming in Japan in the upcoming spring and will center around a washed-up actor living in Tokyo. Taking any job available to make ends meet, the man (presumably played by Brendan Fraser) takes a gig working for a Japanese stand-in rental company where he fills the void of the American actor they’re looking for.
Those who have tuned in for Netflix’s Beef will recognize Hikari’s work as a director in the series and, along with helming Rental Family, she’s also producing and co-penning the script with Stephen Blahut. As of right now, Brendan Fraser’s next feature hasn’t set a release date.
After winning the Academy Award for Best Actor and making an unimaginable comeback to the sets of Hollywood, Brendan Fraser has been a buzzy choice for directors looking to add the talented actor to their call sheets.
