Adam Sandler’s Best Upcoming Movie Dead?
Adam Sander says his upcoming movie with the Safdie Brothers will be delayed. Speaking to Collider, the actor explained that the initial filming schedule was thwarted by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes as filming needed to take place during live baseball.
Since the 2023 MLB season is over, the project will have to wait until the March 2024 season.
Baseball Strike Was The Cause
We kind of missed the opportunity of baseball season because of the strike,” Adam Sandler explained.
“A lot of it was gonna be shot during live baseball. So it’s gonna take a minute. We’re figuring it all out right now. I’m not sure when it’s gonna happen,” he added.
The yet-to-be-titled project is set to be directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Benny Safdie. This marks Josh Safdie’s second solo directorial feature.
Before gaining recognition for their work on Good Time and Uncut Gems, which also starred Adam Sandler, Josh Safdie made his directorial debut in the 2008 film The Pleasure of Being Robbed.
Set To Have A Huge Cast
In addition to Adam Sandler, the now-delayed film will reportedly feature a star-studded cast, including Ben Affleck, Megan Thee Stallion, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Steve Harvey.
The story is rumored to be set in the 1990s world of high-end sportscard collecting. It follows a retired baseball pitcher attempting a comeback while a sports memorabilia agent seeks to capitalize on his success.
Uncut Gems With The Safdie Brothers
Adam Sandler previously worked with the Safdie Brothers on the critically acclaimed 2019 crime thriller Uncut Gems. The story revolves around Howard Ratner (Sandler), a New York City jeweler and gambling addict.
Howard acquires an uncut gemstone from Ethiopia that he believes will fetch him a substantial sum of money.
As he navigates the world of the Diamond District and high-stakes gambling, Howard finds himself in increasingly risky situations, facing mounting debts and dangerous individuals.
Adam Sandler’s performance was widely praised for its depth and complexity, earning him several award nominations, including a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.
Promoting Leo
Adam Sandler is currently promoting the animated musical comedy Leo from directors Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel, and David Wachtenheim.
The movie is written by Smigel, Paul Sado, and Sandler, who also serves as producer via Happy Madison Productions. Leo is scheduled for release on Netflix on November 21, 2023.
The story follows Leo (voiced by Adam Sandler), a world-weary lizard searching for a change after a class visitor implies that he’s getting old.

Adam Sandler In Spaceman
Adam Sandler will also star in Spaceman, a science fiction drama from director Johan Renck.
Based on the 2017 book Spaceman of Bohemia by Jaroslav Kalfar, the movie also stars he film stars Paul Dano, Carey Mulligan, Kunal Nayyar, Kevin James, and Isabella Rossellini. Spaceman is scheduled for release by Netflix in 2024.
