The Expanse Creators Making New Sci-Fi Series, Here’s All We Know
According to ComicBook.com, James S.A. Corey will soon be revealing a new project that marks their first novel following their successful book and television series, The Expanse. Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck write together under the nom de plume of James S.A. Corey and are responsible for the book series that led to the very successful television series, which just ended its six-season run. Their publisher, Orbit Books, has announced that a new science fiction adventure is on its way from the pair, who are set to unveil the project soon.
James S.A. Corey Released Leviathan Falls In 2021
Their first new science fiction project since The Expanse is highly anticipated. After Barnes & Noble called their previous project “the biggest thing in science fiction,” Orbit Books said fans will certainly be looking forward to the new book, which kicks off a completely separate sci-fi adventure series.
Leviathan Falls, the last book in the Expanse series, was released in 2021, and this new project will mark the first new novel from James S.A. Corey since that time. There was, however, an Expanse short story, “Memory’s Legion,” released in 2022 that served as an epilogue to the series. The story appeared in a book by the same title that is a collection of Corey’s Expanse short stories over the course of the past 10 years.
Other Recent Publications
Separate from The Expanse, Abraham wrote a new book called Age of Ash, which he released in 2022, that serves as the beginning of The Kithamar Trilogy, a new series of fantasy novels. Earlier this year, as part of The Far Reaches, a collection from Amazon, Cory released a new short story also separate from The Expanse called “How It Unfold.” With these releases and the upcoming book series, the pair seems to be ready to move on from their most popular work to date.
The Expanse On Syfy And Amazon Prime
The television series The Expanse ran for six seasons across SyFy and Amazon Prime, but since each season was an adaptation of a novel in the book series, which contains nine books, fans have wondered whether more seasons of the show will be forthcoming.
The three remaining novels in the series, Persepolis Rising, Tiamat’s Wrath, and Leviathan Falls, all take place 28 years after the end of the previous six books and, according to Franck and Abraham, are not set to be adapted into new seasons of the series. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t more stories to be told in that world.
The Comic Book Series
The Expanse: Dragon Tooth is a comic book miniseries by Boom Studios that picks up after the sixth season of the television series and fills some of the gap between it and Persepolis Rising, the first of the three later books. The series is set to run for 12 issues and currently stands at its midway point with the 7th issue due for release on November 22nd. This September, Telltale Games will be releasing the final episode of their adventure game series set in the world of The Expanse.
Will We See More Of The Expanse On TV?
We’re excited to see what Franck and Abraham have in store. While it is certainly possible that the remaining three novels in the Expanse series could still at some point be adapted for television, at the moment, this new novel series is the next big thing for fans of James S.A. Corey.
