New Stephen King Movie Gets Incredible Cast
Mike Flanagan, whose series The Fall of the House of Usher is currently a hit on Netflix, is once again diving into the world of Stephen King for his next project, an adaptation of King’s novella The Life of Chuck from the collection If It Bleeds. Gizmodo reports that the film’s cast is shaping up to be a gathering of stars, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, and Jacob Tremblay recently signing on to join previously announced actors Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, and Carl Lumbly.

Flanagan will not only direct the project but also co-write the script with frequent collaborator Trevor Macy, who worked with him on Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House.
Stephen King’s 2020 anthology If It Bleeds encompasses four distinct stories, including Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, which has been adapted into a Netflix movie by John Lee Hancock, The Life of Chuck, If It Bleeds, and Rat.
Tom Hiddleston is slated to portray Chuck in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s work, alongside Mark Hamill as Albie and Carl Lumbly as Sam Yarbrough.
In The Life of Chuck, the narrative is segmented into three acts, each unraveling in reverse chronological order to depict Chuck’s life, from his childhood with his grandparents following his parents’ demise, to his death at 39 due to a brain tumor. Adding a supernatural layer to the story, Chuck perceives his grandparents’ house as haunted, and as a boy he has a premonition of his adult self succumbing to a brain tumor.

Partners Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, and Elan Gale from QWGmire shared their excitement about the collaboration with Flanagan and Trevor Macy in a recent statement. They lauded Flanagan as a master storyteller and expressed their anticipation for bringing his unique take on Stephen King’s short story to viewers worldwide.
