The trailer for the new Disney movie Wish is making quite a splash online. The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the new trailer is the studio’s most popular release since the trailer for Frozen 2 dropped in 2019, as it has racked up 66.5 million views so far and is only on the rise in popularity.
Disney has had a mixed year at the box office, but early indications seem to be that Wish will be the next smash hit.
The teaser trailer for Disney’s Wish had over 40 million views, and the new trailer speedily became the most-watched Disney movie trailer on TikTok to date. From what’s being said on various social media platforms, viewers are excited about the originality of the story, the overtly adorable characters, and even the dashing villain.
Set to be released in theaters in November 2023, Disney’s Wish will be the studio’s 62 feature release as the 100-year anniversary of the company draws nigh. The first feature-length Disney film was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, released in 1937.

The plot of the upcoming Disney feature film Wish centers around a 17-year-old girl named Asha, who lives in the kingdom of Rosas. The kingdom’s ruler is King Magnifico, and his wife is Queen Amaya.
In Disney’s Wish, Magnifico is a magical king to whom his people entrust their deepest wishes and hopes. When Asha discovers that King Magnifico takes joy in holding people’s wishes hostage inside little wish bubbles, only granting one every now and then, she sees an evil in the King that no one else senses.
Magnifico treats the people’s wishes with little regard, controlling the kingdom by giving his people false hopes. Asha dreams of a happier, more fulfilling reality for her home, and she makes a passionate plea to the stars for help.
Soon after throwing her wish up to the sky, a star named … well, Star … comes down from the heavens and answers her wish by befriending Asha and giving her the power to grant wishes. Together, the pair works to create a kingdom where the people’s wishes are heard, and their dreams can come true.
In the wake of Disney’s struggle to generate more revenue for the company, the success of the Wish trailer brings hope to the situation. Following the commercial failures of Disney Pixar’s Lightyear and Strange World, the studio is hoping that Wish will serve as a breath of fresh air.
Disney almost delayed Wish because of the strikes in Hollywood but pressed forward, and the film will be out in November.
However, there were talks in July 2023 about postponing the release of the movie due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood. The strikes have prevented some of the pivotal talent in the film from promoting the movie.
