One Piece Anime Is Coming To Netflix
The One Piece anime series has been slowly feeding into the Netflix queue since December 2020, and according to What’s on Netflix, there’s plenty more where that came from. As the new One Piece live-action adaptation continues to make waves as one of the best live-action manga adaptations to ever be produced, it makes perfect sense that Netflix would continue to add more seasons of its anime counterpart to their roster.
Netflix is adding the One Piece anime’s Saboady Archipelogi arcs and two filler arcs to its lineup on October 1.
At the time of this writing, Netflix’s catalog currently boasts 15 seasons of the series, and sources indicate that the Saboady Archipelago arc, as well as a two-part filler arc, will soon be added to Netflix on October 1, 2023.
Given that the One Piece seasons are being added chronologically, we can’t think of any reason why this wouldn’t be the move to make. If speculation becomes truth, there will be a total of 407 episodes of the One Piece anime available for streaming this fall. In line with this logic, it has been reported that seasons 18 and 19 will be added to the Netflix catalog by either late 2023 or early 2024, bringing the episode count up to 458.
The live-action series was renewed by Netflix for a second season two weeks after its record-breaking premiere
What’s more, season 20 of One Piece should be available for streaming on Netflix by summer 2024, bringing the episode count up to 498.
By now it’s no mystery that One Piece is a successful property across all mediums. Based on the Eiichiro Oda manga series of the same name, the One Piece anime has been running strong since its premiere in 1999, and the series as a whole boasts an intimidating 91 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The live-action adaptation currently has a 95 percent audience score against a critical score of 86 percent, so it’s safe to say that Netflix will most certainly see a spike in viewership as they continue to add more of the anime series to their already robust One Piece catalog that also includes the recent addition of six feature-length anime films and specials that were added this month.
If that’s not enough good news for you on the One Piece front, you’ll be thrilled to know that the live-action series was renewed for a second season two weeks after its record-breaking premiere, and is currently in active development.
There will soon be a total of 407 episodes of the One Piece anime available for streaming this fall on Netflix.
Netflix’s most recent efforts to expand the One Piece catalog will be interesting to watch play out over the coming months and years. Not only will long-time fans of the franchise be able to watch all of their favorite episodes in one place, but we can reasonably expect an influx of new anime fans who want to take a deep dive into the world of anime.
In other words, if the One Piece live-action adaptation wins over an entirely new audience, which it clearly has at this point, it’s only natural for them to want to look back at the legendary anime series that preceded it as the allure of the Straw Hat Pirates, and the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy draw them into the franchises expansive, long-running universe.
