Mark Wahlberg Retiring From Acting?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor, producer, and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg contemplates what lies ahead for him and his family, hinting at the possibility of stepping away from the big screen to pursue other ventures. Wahlberg recognizes that he’s involved in plenty of upcoming projects and that the current pace at which he’s working, both inside and outside Hollywood, may not be sustainable for much longer.
“Well, I’m certainly working harder now than ever. Certain businesses, you kind of build them, pass them on or you exit. Hopefully my kids, we’ll see what their interests are, but I don’t think that I’ll be acting that much longer at the pace I am now.”

The report also discusses Mark Wahlberg’s past achievements, current ventures, and the uncertainty surrounding his future in front of cameras, at least in the capacity of an actor/performer, with the actor himself hinting at possible retirement from the limelight.
To be entirely honest, Wahlberg has been a fixture in the movie/entertainment industry for decades now, but his potential retirement from acting isn’t all that surprising, considering a slew of recent commentary regarding his growing commitments outside the movie industry and his desires to build a legacy for his children.
While the industry isn’t short of actors who are serious about their work ethics, Mark Wahlberg is certainly one of very few who is renowned for his commitment to his craft and other businesses. This is mirrored by his involvement with some high-profile projects, such as Arthur the King, The Union, The Family Plan, Flight Risk, and The Six Billion Dollar Man.
Besides building his fame through acting, Walhberg also isn’t shy about the fact that he became a producer out of necessity and his proactive approach to both acting and producing.
Mark Wahlberg Got His Start In The Music Industry
But it wasn’t the movies and Calvin Klein underwear that made Mark Wahlberg famous. The Transformers star first came to fame as the younger brother of Donnie Wahlberg and the youngest member of the successful New Kids on the Block. Following his departure from the band, he performed with several other music icons of the ‘80s and early ‘90s before moving to Hamburg, where he produced music under East West Records in 1992.
At the same time, Mark Wahlberg first displayed his physique in a series of underwear ads for Calvin Klein, for the brand’s television advertisements. After that, magazines and television promotions sometimes featured Wahlberg exclusively or accompanied by model Kate Moss. His acting debut took place in 1993 in a television film, The Substitute, and his big screen debut came the next year with Danny DeVito in Renaissance Man.
Mark Wahlberg’s Previous Retirement Plans
The late ‘90s and early 2000s were particularly fruitful for Mark Wahlberg, as the majority of his roles received positive reviews. The first mentions of his possible retirement from acting came in a series of interviews via Wayback Machine in 2007, when he stated that he plans on retiring at the age of 40 to concentrate on parenting and professional golf, but later retracted those statements by saying that his golf game is horrible.
Now, being 52 years old, retirement finally might be on the horizon for Mark Wahlberg, as the actor manages to keep himself busy with a diverse range of different projects, some of which are still tied to the entertainment industry.
