Marvel Daughters Of The Dragon Series Planned?
Coming off the massive success of his live-action creation of the beloved manga series One Piece, Marc Jobst has even more big-picture projects in mind. Having previously sat in the director’s chair on Netflix productions, including Luke Cage, Daredevil, and The Witcher, Jobst hopes that one day he’ll be able to move forward with Marvel’s Daughters of the Dragon. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the celebrated director chatted about his work on the Luke Cage episode “Wig Out” and how it points to the possibility of a Daughters of the Dragon spin-off.
A Marvel series focused on the Daughters of the Dragon would be a great way to continue incorporating The Defenders into the MCU.
The Season 2 installment focuses on Jessica Henwick and Simone Missick’s characters, Colleen Wing and Misty Knight. As the curtain on the episode comes down, the Marvel duo can be seen walking off into the distance – a choice that alludes to the possibility of a Daughters of the Dragon storyline coming sometime in the future. Backing up these suspicions, Jobst said that he was “absolutely” nodding to a Misty and Colleen-centered offshoot.
First appearing in the tenth issue of Marvel’s Iron Fist comic all the way back in 1976, the women who came to be known as Daughters of the Dragon were introduced as co-leaders of the detective agency Nightwing Restorations Ltd.
Directing from a script penned by Matt Owens, Jobst points to the blossoming bond between Misty and Colleen in “Wig Out” as his push for the characters to receive their offshoot telling. From the beginnings of their “boxing ring training” to Misty being pushed into a fight, Jobst says that it was all part of the pair’s “relationship building”. The director goes on to say that as Misty and Colleen walk off together “into the smoke and bokeh,” he was alluding to the idea of starting a fresh story with Marvel’s Daughters of the Dragon.
Unfortunately, Luke Cage would come to an end following its second season, with the final bit of hope for audiences to see a Misty and Colleen spin-off in Marvel’s Daughters of the Dragon being snuffed out five years ago. However, now that Marvel has decided to bring fellow ex-Netflix property Daredevil back into the fold, there’s still a chance that fans will get the story they’ve been speculating over.
Colleen Wing and Misty Knight are less well-known than Moon Knight, but if Werewolf by Night earned a special, Marvel might actually make a Daughters of the Dragon series.

As luck would have it, it was through the episode’s writer, Matt Owens, that Jobst would earn the job as Owens is the co-showrunner of Netflix’s live-action anime series. Owing it all to his creative vision on the Luke Cage episode, Jobst nabbed the directorial position on One Piece.
