Exclusive: Run All Night 2 With Liam Neeson In The Works
Qui-Gon Jinn may be dead and buried, but apparently not all of Liam Neeson’s characters stay dead. Our trusted and proven sources tell us Neeson is reprising the role of former Irish mob button man Jimmy “The Gravedigger” Conlon in Run All Night 2. Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed the first film, will also return to helm the sequel.
Run All Night 2 – a sequel to 2015’s Run All Night – is in the works, with both Liam Neeson and director Jame Collet-Serra returning.
Like in 2015’s Run All Night, the sequel will find Neeson’s character protecting his estranged son, Mike. Standing between his son and peril will, predictably, once more lead to a high-stakes showdown with dangerous adversaries.
Jimmy Conlon’s son Mike, a boxer and chauffeur, was played by Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad) in the first film, but so far there is no word on whether or not he will return for Run All Night 2.
The very fact that a sequel is in the works raises a couple of big questions; perhaps first and foremost being exactly how Run All Night 2 got the green light. The first film made $71.5 million against a $50 million production budget per Box Office Mojo, which doesn’t sound very profitable, particularly when you consider other unknown costs like the marketing budget.
Neither Ed Harris’ nor Common’s characters survive the events of the first film, but no resurrections would be needed for either Kinnaman or D’Onofrio to return for Run All Night 2.
The second big question revolves around Liam Neeson’s return. His hero, Jimmy Conlon, dies protecting Mike and Mike’s family at the end of the first film. Of course this would hardly be the first time a hero was resurrected for a sequel.
While Neeson remains the only cast member we can confirm for Run All Night 2, if it’s anything like its predecessor, you can expect some impressive talent. Along with Neeson, Run All Night starred Ed Harris (The Truman Show) as the mob boss who wrongly blames Mike for his own son’s death, Common (John Wick: Chapter 2) as an assassin hired to kill Mike, and Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil) as a homicide detective Neeson’s character strikes a deal with.

Liam Neeson And Jaume Collet-Serra
Run All Night 2 will mark another in a growing list of collaborations between Liam Neeson and Jaume Collet-Serra. Along with Run All Night, Collet-Serra has directed Neeson in 2011’s Unknown, 2014’s Non-Stop, 2018’s The Commuter, and Retribution which hit theaters fewer than two weeks ago.
Collet-Serra is also getting a lot of collaboration time with a younger action star: Dwayne Johnson. The filmmaker directed Johnson in 2021’s Jungle Cruise, last year’s Black Adam, and is attached to return for Jungle Cruise 2.
Once we have more info on Neeson’s return in Run All Night 2, we’ll make sure you know about it.
