The Star Wars Show Following Ahsoka Is Not What Anyone Expects
As the latest episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka continue to wow critics and fans of the franchise alike, Disney+ has unveiled new plans for the next installment in the Star Wars canon. According to a recent write-up in StarWars.com, new episodes of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures are planned to air on the streamer on November 8. The series recently aired its latest batch of episodes on Disney Junior and Disney+ on August 2nd and garnered high praise from critics.
In stark contrast to the dark and unflinching themes of Star Wars: Ahsoka, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is a child and family-friendly series that features Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs as they train alongside their Masters, Yoda, and Zia.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures will be the next series to air in the franchise following Ahsoka
The series is canonically set 200 years before the events of 1999’s Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and is geared specifically toward preschool-age fans of the beloved franchise.
As fans patiently await the latest episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka, which first premiered on August 22 with an explosive two-episode premiere, Disney has announced that the latest batch of Young Jedi Adventures episodes will include a Life Day special.
The special is said to focus on the show’s main cast taking a trip to the Wookiee home world of Kashyyyk, in order to learn about the Wookees’ holiday traditions. This should serve as an exciting adventure for young fans of the franchise, as Kashyyyk hasn’t been depicted on screen since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith.
Though there are over a dozen planned installments in the Star Wars franchise allegedly planned for 2024 and beyond, including new seasons for existing series such as Ahsoka and Andor, fans are unsure of which Disney+ originals are still set to arrive on time.
The ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, paired with the studio’s recent claims that they will be paring down the Star Wars franchise to avoid over-saturating the brand have left a number of projects in a state of limbo. However, according to recent news, Disney has confirmed that it has plans to continue producing and releasing episodes of Young Jedi Adventures in 2024.
Unlike most Star Wars live-action series such as Ahsoka, which only received an eight-episode order for its first season, children’s programming is often given extended length for their seasons, with an option to spread episodes across a long span of time.
Young Jedi Adventure will have 25 episodes in its season
For Young Jedi Adventures, the first season is set to consist of 25 half-hour-long episodes, which have been releasing in batches of six or seven episodes at a time.
With movement already being made in producing the final episodes of Young Jedi Adventures‘ ongoing first season, there’s no telling how the animated series will be impacted by the shifting politics of Hollywood.
Obviously, the contrasting themes and content between Star Wars: Ahsoka and Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures creates a wide array of content to consume within the franchise, allowing fans of all ages to tune in and become engrossed in the story of the galaxy far, far away.
