Disney Channel Star Arrested For Shockingly Long List Of Violations
Former Hannah Montana star Mitchel Musso was arrested in Texas this past weekend following an altercation at a food market. The 32-year-old actor was booked on a laundry list of charges, including public intoxication and theft. According to Deadline the former Disney Channel star was released after paying $1000 in bail.
Accused of a number of offenses including theft, former Disney Channel star Mitchel Musso of Hannah Montana fame was arrested over the weekend in Texas.
The incident allegedly began when Musso attempted to steal a bag of potato chips from a Texas food market. According to staff, Musso was asked to pay for the salty snack and immediately became belligerent at the suggestion. The Disney Channel alum allegedly became “verbally abusive” before eventually storming out.
Local authorities were called and apprehended Musso outside of a hotel the actor was staying at. The actor was reportedly intoxicated when the police found him. Musso was brought to a Rockwall, Texas jail after being charged with a slew of offenses that included theft, having an expired motor vehicle registration, public intoxication, failure to produce a driver’s license when asked, and finally, violating a promise to appear notice.
The actor’s alleged infractions paint a picture of someone who has changed significantly since portraying the sweet but dopey Oliver Oken on the Disney Channel hit Hannah Montanna in the mid-’00s. Musso played Oliver, best friend to Miley Cyrus‘s titular teen popstar for four seasons between 2006 and 2011.
Musso’s squeaky-clean persona extended beyond Hannah Montanna to several other Disney Channel properties. Mitchel voiced Candace’s unrequited love interest, Jeremy Johnson, on Phineas and Ferb, as well as starring in the Disney Channel original movie The Search for Santa Paws in 2010.

After Hannah Montana ended, Musso headlined his own Disney Channel series Pair of Kings as King Brady. As he got older, Musso transitioned to feature films and more adult roles with varying results. Like many Disney stars, Musso also has a music career, releasing several songs on various Disney compilations as well as his own solo album in 2009.
Musso’s Fall From Grace
This most recent incident isn’t Musso’s first run-in with the law. The actor was arrested in 2011 on suspicion of DUI after Burbank, California P.D. pulled him over for allegedly failing to slow down for a traffic cop. The police who pulled Musso over allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath and administered a field sobriety test and breathalyzer.
The underage Musso reportedly blew above the legal limit of .08 on the test and was arrested as a result.
Musso’s character being written out of his Disney Channel series Pair of Kings as a result of the DUI incident. Musso’s arrest also led Disney to cancel Musso’s other series, PrankStars after only four episodes.
Sadly, Musso is just the latest in a long line of childhood stars to break bad. From famously troubled actresses Lindsey Lohan and Amanda Bynes to fellow Disney Channel actor Shia LaBeouf, many stars who get their start in Hollywood as children have a hard time transitioning to adulthood.
Often the public’s perception of the actors as the innocent children they portrayed onscreen can lead stars like Musso to act out in an effort to distance themselves from their “goody two shoes” television image.
