Netflix One Piece Live Action Series Already Being Praised By Fans
In many cases, most live-action adaptations leave a lot to be desired when compared to their animated counterparts. But the hype surrounding the Matt Owens adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga series is leading us to believe that we’re about to see something spectacular. We’re just about a week out from the One Piece Netflix premiere, and fans are already posting on X expressing their excitement.
Eiichiro Oda, who is executive producing the Netflix series, did not parse his words when he posted on X saying that his fans should trust him and his vision. But what’s more promising is his assertion that he can’t say that something is good when it isn’t, but only before suggesting that One Piece will be very good, though he knows he could do even better.
The Netflix adaptation of One Piece will be centered on the East Blue Saga, and will serve as the introductory saga not unlike the original manga series. X user @Jay_Rose018 urges Netflix to realize that if they make good on delivering a successful adaptation, then they’ll have a “gold mine” in their hands for the next 10 years. But he’s guarded in his enthusiasm, hoping that they don’t mess up.
If One Piece ends up being the next big thing on Netflix, then it makes sense that the manga needs to eventually be completed so Oda can focus more of his energy on the series upon its conclusion.
But other users are worried about what this means for the One Piece manga, considering that Oda probably had to slow down on writing to work on the Netflix adaptation. The prevailing theory, however, is that Oda is well into the manga’s final arc, and the accepted time frame for its conclusion is within the next three to five years.
Knowing all too well how fan-favorite series get canceled on Netflix, X user @arrynyo is running under the assumption that the series will get axed right when it’s truly starting to pick up.
In other words, since Oda is only functioning as a producer, and not the primary showrunner, then it’s not outside the realm of possibility that he will work tirelessly on both projects. If the One Piece Netflix adaptation is a resounding success like Oda and his fans think it will be, then it’s only natural to want to keep pushing forward on both fronts.

While he’s not wrong to think this, what really matters is how well One Piece performs after its worldwide premiere. Though it may seem that Netflix indiscriminately cancels shows at the height of their popularity, they make these decisions based on the data and overall viewership.
When To Watch One Piece On Netflix
