Hilarious Disney Sci-Fi Comedy Started On Streaming, But Now You Can’t See It Anywhere
If you happened to miss the third season of the Hulu Original series Future Man, you’re going to have a hard time finding it as it isn’t available to stream anywhere. While the first two seasons of the series are available for digital purchase on platforms like Amazon and Apple TV, the third season isn’t anywhere to be found (via Just Watch). So, it’s probably best not to get too invested in it if you do decide to buy and download the first couple of seasons.
Future Man, a Hulu Original sci-fi comedy series created by Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg can’t be streamed anywhere.
Future Man is a series created by Howard Overman, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir that first premiered on Hulu back in 2017. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who have worked on Invincible, Superbad, Pineapple Express, This is the End, and much more together, executive produced the series. The series stars Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe, Derek Wilson, Ed Begley Jr., Keith David, Glenne Headly, Seth Rogen, and Haley Joel Osment.
The creative team behind Future Man alone would make it an intriguing enough show to check out, but the premise is pretty fun too. Hutcherson’s Josh Futturman is a janitor who beats the supposedly unbeatable video game Biotic Wars. This leads the protagonists of the video game, Tiger and Wolf, to appear in the real world and recruit Josh to save the world from the real Biotic Wars. Of course, this involves a bunch of time-traveling adventures to help save the future from this fate.
Back in 2022, you could have watched Future Man on platforms like Disney+ and Hulu, though the series has since been removed from all Disney-owned platforms. The removal was due to streaming budget cuts that seem to be commonplace amongst numerous streaming services lately.
This show was one of the many that were made more difficult to see by fans, but the fact that the third season isn’t even available for purchase makes it especially frustrating for fans who want to revisit it.
It’s not like there wasn’t any love for Future Man either, as the show was generally well-reviewed throughout each of its seasons. Unlike many shows in the streaming era, it wasn’t axed prematurely and was able to tell a complete story over the course of three seasons, with a finale that wrapped everything up. The show ended in 2020, and you would think that Disney would have kept it available on Hulu, considering it was a well-liked Hulu original.
Future Man isn’t the only show to disappear after Hulu pulled it from streaming, Marvel’s Runaways has also vanished from the internet.
Of course, it’s not completely impossible to watch the third season of Future Man if you’re invested and desperately want to see a resolution to the story. The third season is available in physical formats like DVD and Blu-ray, but this isn’t the most convenient method of consumption for most people however, if you watch the first season and second season and decide you like the show, at least there is one avenue for you to watch it in its entirety.
Of course, buying or renting a TV show that was once available on a streaming service is never an ideal scenario, especially if you already pay for said streaming service. It’s certainly a frustrating by-product of the streaming era that shows like Future Man can suddenly just be gone, and the path to watching them is much more difficult than before. Still, if you’re a fan of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s other projects, the show is worth checking out.
The Future Man DVD release is the only way fans can watch the third season, which isn’t available for purchase from Amazon or Apple.
It’s especially worth tapping into Future Man if you’re waiting on pins and needles for the return of Rogen and Golberg’s Invincible series. The series, which adapts the Robert Kirkman comic of the same name, first premiered in 2021 and is finally set to return for the second season in November of this year. To tide fans over, the series released a special episode that focused on the character Atom Eve.
Fortunately, Invincible is much easier to find on streaming, and fans can stream both the first season and the Atom Eve episode on Amazon Prime Video without having to jump through any extra hoops. Hopefully, one day we’ll be able to say the same thing about the Future Man series, but for now, you’ll have to resort to buying or renting if you want to see it. It’s not the ideal scenario, but it’s all that’s available for now.
