The Liam Neeson Hijack Nightmare On Netflix That Will Send You Flying
For over a decade, Liam Neeson has been starring in action movies like the Taken film franchise, The Grey, The A-Team, and his 2014 film Non-Stop that is now streaming on Netflix. The mysterious action movie is currently number three on the streaming platform, so it’s definitely worth checking out for the first time or watching it once again. Just be warned that if you have a fear of flying (and murder), it may be tough to watch without Liam Neeson around to protect you.
The claustrophobic Liam Neeson thriller Non-Stop is now streaming on Netflix.
The action film follows Liam Neeson, who plays Bill Marks, a Federal Air Marshal who used to be an NYPD officer. While on a transatlantic flight from New York to London, he must find a psychotic killer on the plane who is threatening to kill a passenger every 20 minutes unless they receive $150 million. What initially sounds like a sick joke quickly becomes a reality when the bodies start piling up in the plane.
Willing to do anything and everything it takes to keep every passenger alive, Liam Neeson’s character fights to find out who the mysterious killer is and put an end to their threats. However, things get even more complicated when the word gets out to the passengers and the FBI, leading them to question their trust in the Federal Air Marshal.
In addition to action star Liam Nesson, Non-Stop also features Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy, Michelle Dockery, Corey Stoll, and Lupita Nyong’o. Julianne Moore plays Jen Summers, the passenger who sits next to Liam Neeson’s character on the flight and plays a pivotal part in the ongoing mystery. Similarly, Michelle Dockery plays Nancy, a flight attendant who helps try and find the killer on the plane.
The action film features an original motion picture soundtrack made up of 21 songs, including the tracks Do Something for Me, What Happened to Amsterdam?, and Explosions Protocol. It was composed by John Ottman and was released via Varèse Sarabande label.
Non-Stop was a surprise hit for Liam Neeson, raking in over $200 million at the box office while up against The Lego Movie, which also stars Liam Neeson.
When Non-Stop was released to theaters in 2014, it did very well, earning $10 million on its opening day in the United States and Canada. It even beat out the top film at the time, The Lego Movie (another Liam Neeson film), and the new movie Son of God. Overall, it grossed over $222 million, quadrupling its production budget of $50 million.
When it was first released, Non-Stop received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Some felt that the plot was too ridiculous to fathom, while others enjoyed the theatrical entertainment and the performance from Liam Neeson. Currently, the movie holds a 61 percent critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.9 out of 10 on IMDb.
While Liam Neeson is well-known as a bad-ass action star who can handle any crazy situation that comes his way, he has also starred in many dramatic and comical films since he began acting in 1978 when he was just 26 years old.
One of his most famous roles was that of Alfred Kinsey in 2004’s Kinsey, a film whose only action involves discussing sexual behavior. Another famous role of his was in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 biographical drama Schindler’s List. Liam Neeson played Oskar Schindler, a real-life German industrialist who saved as many Jewish people as possible by employing them in his factories.
Liam Neeson And Director Jaume Collet-Serra Have Worked Together Four times
Non-Stop is just one of the four (almost five) collaborations between director Jaume Collet-Serra and Liam Neeson. The two have worked together on several other films, including Unknown, Run All Night, and The Commuter, which all include plenty of action, thrills, and drama. Back in 2014, Jaume Collet-Serra teased the idea of a sequel to Non-Stop, but nearly ten years later, it does not seem like it’s going to happen.
The next film for the action director-actor duo is Retribution, a crime thriller that will hit theaters on August 25. In the upcoming movie, Liam Neeson plays a father/bank executive who is told that his car will explode if he stops to let his children out. It sounds like it will be a wild ride that is a cross between Speed and Daddy Day Care.
