Gal Gadot’s New Action Movie Releases Direct To Netflix This Week
What’s on Netflix has released a comprehensive list highlighting the upcoming release slate for the week of August 7, so if you’re looking for a good reason to call out of work to properly binge, you better start faking your cough now. Among the 18 upcoming movies, series, and games making their debut on the streaming giant, the most highly anticipated movie, Heart of Stone, will premiere on August 11.
This Tom Harper spy action thriller will star Gal Gadot, and sounds like it will be an instant classic that needs to be added to your queue immediately.
In other words, we’re dealing with a MacGuffin that might not even reveal itself until the third act, or at all.
Heart of Stone will be a change of pace for Gal Gadot, who is most recently well known for her portrayal of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the DCEU. Though much of the plot is under wraps, Netflix has given us a brief summary of what the film’s about, and we could reasonably expect an epic summer blockbuster.
It’s been reported that Heart of Stone will be the intended start of a franchise not unlike the Mission: Impossible series, so we can only hope this first installment lives up to our expectations.

Gal Gadot will be taking on the role of Rachel Stone, a duplicitous and highly skilled spy who is tasked with protecting a mysterious item called “The Heart.” Though Gadot’s Stone is working for an elite MI6 unit under the direction of agent Parker (Jamie Dornan), she is also secretly working for the Charter, a covert peacekeeping organization that’s so top secret, that other high-ranking spies don’t even know about it.
The trailer makes it clear that a global threat is imminent, but it’s not clear who we’re supposed to trust in this upcoming spy thriller.
We don’t know for certain what The Heart is, but it bears a significant amount of importance to the plot, and Stone is responsible for keeping the object safe while making sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
That is to say, even if Ethan Hunt is willing to drive his motorcycle off of a cliff to catch a train, we have reason to believe that Stone would continue to pursue him without hesitation.
In other words, we’re dealing with a MacGuffin that might not even reveal itself until the third act, or at all. Thirty years after Pulp Fiction’s release, we’re still trying to figure out what was inside of Marsellus Wallace’s briefcase, so at the time of this writing, your guess is as good as ours.
And if Heart of Stone is truly trying to follow in the footsteps of the Mission: Impossible franchise, it certainly appears as if Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt, and Matthias Schweighöfer have done their homework. The action sequences in the trailer alone suggest to us that if Ethan Hunt were on the run, he’d probably want to be on Rachel Stone’s good side.
