Demon Slayer Season 4 Is Already In Production And It’s Adapting A Fan Favorite Arc
Demon Slayer Season 4 is officially on the way, and Ufotable has released a brief teaser pointing to the adaptation of a fan-favorite manga arc. The trailer doesn’t have much to it, but it shows off each of the current Hashira, which means that the Hashira Training Arc is on the way. The third season of the anime just wrapped up and completed the Swordsmith Village arc.
A new trailer teases the upcoming Season 4 of Demon Slayer.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date yet for the fourth season of Demon Slayer. This is likely partially due to the fact that the Hashira Training Arc doesn’t have nearly enough chapters to cover a full season of the anime. The arc in the manga consists of nine chapters, which would translate to roughly three episodes of anime based on the adaptation rate from previous seasons.
It’s possible that we could see the fourth season adapt the entirety of the Hashira Training arc, pad some of the seasons with material from the light novels, and give us a brief build-up for the massive Infinity Castle Arc at the end of the season.
Some fans think that this means we may get some of the Infinity Castle Arc adapted in the fourth season of Demon Slayer, which consists of 47 manga chapters. However, it seems likely that Ufotable may adapt some of the light novels before diving into the Infinity Castle Arc. While some might see this as filler-ish material, it would make sense if they were wanting to prolong the end of the anime.
The Infinity Castle Arc of Demon Slayer is part of the overall Final Battle Arc, so it would be the beginning of the end for the anime series. The very last part of the Final Battle Arc is the Sunrise Countdown Arc, which ends the manga and the story as a whole. That arc consists of 22 chapters.
The Final Battle Arc consists of 69 chapters of the manga, which would translate to roughly two more seasons of the Demon Slayer anime. It’s possible that we could see the fourth season adapt the entirety of the Hashira Training arc, pad some of the seasons with material from the light novels, and give us a brief build-up for the massive Infinity Castle Arc at the end of the season. If they go this route, there’s a chance we could see fewer episodes in this season than in the previous seasons.
The Current Demon Slayer Trend
This would actually track with the Demon Slayer anime’s current trend, with each season having progressively fewer episodes than the last. However, a shorter season could also mean we get a shorter turnaround time for the season’s release. While that’s certainly not a guarantee, it would lessen the sting of there being fewer episodes than the already brief third season.
Plus, Ufotable could more than make up for it by providing us with two full seasons that would properly give the Infinity Castle Arc and the Sunrise Countdown Arc their due. It’s safe to say that Demon Slayer fans are willing to wait for more gorgeously animated episodes if it means the manga is as faithfully adapted as possible.
While we might have to wait a while to find out the official release date and episode count of the fourth season, we can at least rest assured knowing that there’s more Demon Slayer on the way.
