Finishing Attack On Titan’s Final Chapters: Season 4 Part 3’s Last Episode Finally Arriving?
For fans of the anime Attack on Titan, the wait may finally be over. It has taken 10 years to get to this point, but Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3 (aka The Final Chapter) appears as if it will soon actually air and wrap up with Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3, Episode 2. We think. Let us explain.
Attack On Titan’s Confusing Way Of Naming Each Season
First you need to know right off the bat that the way Attack on Titan keeps track of what season it is in, is confusing and uses a variety of different naming conventions.
In one way of looking at it, there are four Attack on Titan seasons. That’s the way the show is listed on streaming apps like Funimation and Crunchyroll. If you’re using that convention, the series has aired 87 episodes and one part of a special two-part final episode called “The Final Chapters Special 1.”
So in that way of tracking the show, Attack On Titan Season 4, Part 3, Episode 1 has just been released. We’re waiting on the release of Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 3, Episode 2
However, on the show’s actual title cards in each episode, Attack on Titan Season 4 is called Attack on Titan: The Final Season. That is broken up into three parts. Those parts are called Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 1 – 3.
But wait, there’s more. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 is being broken up into two-hour-long special episodes. Those episodes are called Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 “The Final Chapters Specials 1 -2.”
So far, only Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 “The Final Chapters Special 1” has been released. If you’re waiting for the next Attack on Titan episode, that means you’re waiting for Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 “The Final Chapters Special 2”.
For the purposes of this article, assume the following:

Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3’s Hectic Journey
Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 3, has taken its time on its venture to its English audience. The third and final part actually started airing way back in March. It was at that time when a single longer episode titled “The Final Season Part 3: The Final Chapters Special 1” aired. Unfortunately, “The Final Chapters Special 2” (aka Part 3, Episode 2) was not released.
It gets even more confusing when you start taking into account the two different versions of each episode being released. For each Attack on Titan episode, there is a dubbed version and a subtitled version.
Only the subtitled version of Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 3, Episode 1 has been released. So if you’re waiting for the dubbed versions, then you’re waiting on both Episode 1 (aka “Special 1”) and Episode 2 (aka “Special 2”) of Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 3.
But remember, if you’re watching the show with subtitles, then you’ve already seen Attack on Titan Season 4, Part 3, Episode 1 and are only waiting on the release of “The Final Chapters Special 2” (aka Part 3, Episode 2).
When Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3, Episode 2 Will Be Released With Subtitles
A subtitled version of “The Final Chapters Special 2” is expected in the Fall of 2023. This means fans can expect to get the English-dubbed conclusion of Attack on Titan sometime between September and December 2023.
We do know the final chapter is actually coming, thanks to a teaser trailer released in early 2023.
When Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 Will Get A Dubbed Version
Exactly when the dubbed versions of Attack on Titan: The Final Season’s part 3 will be released is currently unknown. There’s a lot of confusing information out there, and while you’ll see various dates claimed, it’s unwise to trust any of them at this point.
You should probably get ready to watch it with subtitles.

Attack On Titan’s Strange Origin Story
It has been a strange and hectic journey not only for Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3 (aka The Final Season) but for the series in general. The highly-rated anime began its life a decade ago with Season 1. This first season consisted of 25 episodes and ran from April 2013 through September 2013.
From there, Attack on Titan took a four-year hiatus, finally returning in April 2017. Season 2 was chopped in half, only entertaining its fans with 12 episodes. Thankfully, fans didn’t have to wait long for Season 3 to kick off, as it returned barely over a year later. This time, though, Attack on Titan was split into two parts, becoming a precursor for Attack on Titan: The Final Season.
Season 3 began in July 2018 and concluded its 12-episode run in October of the same year. Part 2 of Season 3 reconvened in April 2019 and ran until July 2019 with a total of 10 episodes.
Fans then had to wait for a year and a half before Attack on Titan Season 4 (The Final Season) arrived. Strangely, this fourth and final season was broken into three parts. Part 1 ran a total of 16 episodes from December 2022 through March 2021. Part 2 of Season 4 came a year later, running from January 2022 through April 2022. Finally, Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3 arrived in March 2023, and even this was broken into two parts. Still with us?
Why the creators have taken this long-winded, convoluted approach to release Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3, we are not sure. No explanation has ever been given, so fans, at times, have been left twisting in the wind wondering why and when. Obviously, the wait has been well worth it, as Attack on Titan has been one of the most highly-rated anime ever to hit the small screen.
It Started As A Manga
If you are not too familiar with the story of Attack on Titan, let us help. The anime comes from the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The series ran from September 2009, concluding in April 2021, and consists of 34 volumes. Both the manga and anime series tell the story of a world where all of humanity, or what is left of it, is forced to live in cities that are fortified by three enormous walls. These walls are in place to protect them from gigantic man-eating Titans.
The story follows young Eren Jeager, a kid who makes it his life’s goal to rid the world of these Titans after they destroy his hometown, killing his mother in the process. As the story builds toward Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Eren discovers he is more than just an ordinary human, and his goal of eliminating these man-eating Titans will be a lot more difficult than he ever imagined. Along the way, there will be major sacrifice and death. Will it be worth it all?
Why the Delay for Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3, Episode 2?
Many fans have been pondering why the show is fraught with so many strange delays, with none coming to a real conclusion. Why is there such a delay for the third part of Attack on Titan: The Final Season? And why are they releasing it in so many small, confusing parts?
The head-scratcher comes because of Season 4’s Part 2. When this was first released in January 2022, Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 was the subtitled version. However, the English dubbed version date was given a month later, and it began to air on February 13, 2022. With that quick of a turnaround, fans came to expect the same thing with the final parts.
Unfortunately, that was not to be the case, and when the Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3 English dubbed version did not appear a month later, fans were rightfully confused. And then, when Special 2 never showed up at all in any version, they were even more confused.
Speculation has it that this delay is the cause of a licensing issue. While unconfirmed, it is said that the licensing problem could be from the Japanese company that holds the streaming rights to the series or from Toonami, the company that airs the series on Adult Swim before it goes out for a wider streaming audience. Before Toonami grabbed the rights, Funimation held them. Now that Crunchyroll has taken over the rights, there is the possibility that the streaming deal is in need of renegotiation.
The Show’s Voice Cast
As we continue to wait for Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 3, one thing we do know about it is that the vocal cast for the dubbed versions remains the same.
From the beginning, the cast has been: Bryce Papenbrook as Eren Jaeger, Trina Nishimura as Mikasa Ackermann, Josh Grille as Armin Arlett, Robert McCollum as Reiner Braun, Jason Liebrecht as Zeke Jaeger, Clifford Chapin as Conny Springer, Lindsay Seidel as Gabi Braun, and Bryson Baugus as Falco Grice.
Where To Watch Attack On Titan Season 4, Part 3: The Final Season
If you are in need of catching up on the series before AAttack on Titan Season 4 Part 3 concludes, it can be seen on Hulu. There they have every episode through Season 4, Episode 29, which is the one-hour “The Final Chapters Special 1”. You can watch either the English subtitled versions or the English dubbed versions.
That said, Attack on Titan releases usually show up faster and more reliably on the anime specialty streaming apps from Funimation and Crunchyroll. If you’re not already subscribed to one of them, now is the time.
