Even though Giana Carano is no longer part of that galaxy far, far away, she gets credit for bringing a different kind of feminine hero to Star Wars. In a franchise filled with lithe warrior women, this actress turned quite a few heads by portraying a character who was almost as physically intimidating as Darth Vader himself.

Obviously, her background as a wrestler helped make her fighting scenes that much more realistic. And she’s obviously a good wrestler because if anyone could have wrestled her phone out of her hands, this fatal femme would still be turning heads and even leading her own Star Wars spinoff.

Instead she’s starring in weird political films that even your grandparents haven’t heard of before.

Most fans are pretty honest about the fact that the Book of Boba Fett was one of the more disappointing entries in the Star Wars franchise. Among other things, it was a series plagued by too many boring side characters. But whenever Jennifer Beals was onscreen, we were anything but bored.

In the show, Beals plays a cantina owner and an early ally of Boba Fett. And while we would have liked to see her have a few more scenes to establish her personality and backstory, we feel confident the sheer distracting beauty that Beals brought to this role means we haven’t seen the last of her tantalizing Twi’lek.

Laura Dern’s character Amilyn Holdo proved to be somewhat controversial, which is fitting since she was at the heart of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the most controversial of the sequel trilogy.

Whatever else you may think of her character or the film itself, though, it’s difficult to deny that Dern did the impossible. She became a character who was a worthy follow-up to Princess Leia.

Holdo is tough when dealing with hotheads like Poe Damerson, and she’s savvy enough to make a big swing (like the Holdo maneuver) when the enemy least expects it.

In addition to loving the purple hair, the truth is that we’ve had a huge crush on Dern since Jurassic Park, and it was awesome to see her trade dealing with dinosaurs for dealing with Darth Vader’s kid (and looking fabulous while she did so).

Depending on just how much nerd television you consume, you might have let out a squeal when Ming-Na Wen was cast as the deadly galactic assassin Fennec Shand.

Her geek cred is well-known: she’s been in Street Fighter, Eureka, Stargate, and even Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. And she kicked all kinds of ass on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before popping up in Star Wars.

While all of these roles were very different, they all had something important in common: Ming-Na Wen always brings people to their knees through her great beauty and physical prowess.

She has the fierceness of a fighter and the grace of a dancer, and this beautiful actress has the uncanny ability to always be the best part of any given scene.

At this point, Star Wars is a franchise old enough to have multiple generations of fans. To fans who grew up rooting for Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars, it has been consistently amazing to see Rosario Dawson bring the character to life in live-action. This actress (who has appeared in Daredevil, Sin City, and Death Proof) definitely had the genre resume to do the role justice.

In addition to being drop-dead beautiful and having proven herself as a geek icon, we also love how funny Dawson was in roles like Clerks II and The Lego Batman Movie.

While the modern Ahsoka is not exactly a laugh riot, Dawson’s command of irony and light line deliveries helps remind us of when Ahsoka was a lighthearted padawan…one who had no idea how bad her life was going to become.

Like Ahsoka before her, Bo-Katan Kryze is another character that we were introduced to back in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It has been a delight to finally see her in live-action.

As an added bonus, her live-action portrayal in shows like The Mandalorian is handled by the same person who provided her voice: Katee Sackhoff, who is best known for playing the impulsive Starbuck in the 2003 Battlestar Galactica show.

Sackhoff’s time in that other sci-fi franchise helped her master finding the razor’s edge between sexy and scary, to the point that it wasn’t always clear if she was about to kiss someone or just kick their ass. Honestly, being on the receiving end of either sounds like a good time, and she brings this sizzling synergy to Star Wars as well.

For better or worse, she was certainly the most captivating part of The Mandalorian’s third season.

In retrospect, Felicity Jones had one hell of a challenge cut out for her when she was cast in Star Wars: Rogue One. Whereas other actresses had several films and often a few TV appearances to win fans over, Jones had none of that.

She had to deliver a convincing arc, win over the fans, and make us grieve for her inevitable death, all over the course of a single film.

Despite all the added challenges, Jones managed to kill it in the role, and she does such a great job kicking ass that you may not notice how beautiful she is until your second or third viewing.

While Jones brings plenty of natural beauty to the role, we like to think she is made that much prettier by the molten determination burning at the very heart of the character. We’re just going to say it: after the success of Andor, we’re ready for an Erso series now more than ever.

If Felicity Jones had one hell of a challenge cut out for her, then Daisy Ridley had an entire trilogy of challenges to deal with. Her performance as a Force user caught up in an intergalactic struggle (the “Star Wars,” if you will) is both powerful and convincing.

Convincing enough, in fact, that we could almost look over the fact that the writers made major changes to her character with every new film, some of which seriously contradicted each other.

Still, Ridley rose to all of these challenges with poise and grace, and she did so while looking jaw-droppingly good. In any other film, the idea that a bad guy like Kylo Ren would break good because he caught feelings would be laughable.

But when that happens in The Rise of Skywalker, Ridley’s great beauty and compelling personality quickly made Adam Driver’s romance-based face turn the most believable part of an otherwise awful film.

Star Wars fans who hate the prequels often have an intense debate: did the movies really have bad acting, or does blame for their poor quality fall squarely on George Lucas? Honestly, when we consider the killer performance of Natalie Portman, it’s almost impossible to blame the actors.

Portman convincingly brought Luke and Leia’s mother to life, and she did her best to make the world’s worst romantic dialogue sound almost natural.

While her acting talents are first and foremost in our minds, we can’t deny that Portman’s immense beauty helped to make Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side much more believable than the writing ever did.

Whether she’s baring her midriff on Geonosis or giving Anakin a Coruscant couture fashion show, Portman simply dazzles. She’d certainly be at the top of our list if she wasn’t going up against one of the most beautiful and beloved icons in all of Hollywood.

What can we say about Carrie Fisher and her portrayal as Princess Leia that hasn’t already been said? The first Star Wars film introduced her as a take-charge badass that the fellas couldn’t take their eyes off of, and that basically sums up fan reaction to her as well.

Fisher was a first crush for multiple generations of fans, and she managed to make each new appearance more iconic than the one before.

For example, her hair buns from the first film instantly became part of pop culture, as did her flowing white costume. She changed out both the hair and the outfit for the second film and, if possible, managed to look even cuter than before, something we wouldn’t have thought possible.

Decades ago, she proved she was hotter than the twin suns of Tattooine with her golden bikini in Return of the Jedi, and it’s fair to say that none of us have been the same ever since.
