Whether you’ve long been a fan of Michael Imperioli’s from his days in Goodfellas , jumped on for his rise to fame in The Sopranos, or are now just discovering his work through The White Lotus, he wants his followers to know that bigots are no longer welcome to enjoy his work.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 57-year-old Emmy winner recently had some fighting words after the Supreme Court’s recent decision to allow a Colorado-based web designer to discriminate against making wedding sites for same-sex couples because of religious convictions.
Taking to his Instagram, in a post that has now been taken down, the actor channeled the brass of his The Sopranos character Christopher Moltisanti to share his feelings.

Sending out a message for all those who see it fit to discriminate against others, Michael Imperioli told his followers that he was now banning “bigots and homophobes” from tuning in for any of his content including – but not limited to – The Sopranos and The White Lotus.
Cheering on the Supreme Court for giving him the ability to make this divisive decision on his own, Imperioli thanked the group of Justices and cheekily wrote, “USA! USA!” Dipping into his own comment section, The Lovely Bones actor went on to further pick apart the decision writing, “hate and ignorance is not a legitimate point of view,” and adding, “America is becoming dumber by the minute” to really sum up his feelings.
While he may be one of the loudest vocal advocates on Instagram, Michael Imperioli is just one of many who are outraged by the Supreme Court’s latest crushing blow to the rights of those in the LGBTQ+ community.

The decision comes hot on the heels of the June celebrations of Pride, typically a joyous time for the queer community to celebrate the giant steps forward that have come over the last several decades.
Michael Imperioli notes in his post this is a damaging step in the wrong direction and gives more of a platform for hate. Like The Sopranos actor, Justice Sonia Sotomayor recognized the damaging effect that the ruling could potentially have on members of the LGBTQ+ community, and acknowledged that it was “a sad day in American constitutional law.”

As for Michael Imperioli, while some of his fan base won’t love the stance that he’s taking, chances are, he’ll draw in even more folks after standing up for their rights. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s cemented himself as a legend during his critically acclaimed run on The Sopranos, a role that he’s still recognized and known for today as the series has never really dwindled in popularity even all of these years since the much-talked-about finale.
Essentially, nothing will slow down Imperioli’s career and with him taking a stand against bigotry, there’s only more room for new followers to hop aboard the fandom’s train.
