Exclusive: Channing Tatum And Taylor Kitsch In Deadpool 3 As Gambit
We've exclusively learned that both Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch will play different versions of the mutant Gambit in Deadpool 3.
The last Deadpool movie was ruthless in tearing apart 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and based on what we just learned, we’re predicting the upcoming Deadpool 3 will be no different. Our trusted and proven sources tell us both Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch will be playing different versions of the mutant Gambit in the threequel.
Kitsch plays the card-flicking hero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and while he never managed to play his own Gambit on screen, Tatum was famously attached to a solo Gambit film that suffered years in development limbo before finally being put out of its misery.
The news that Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch will appear in Deadpool 3 would seemingly track with hints Wade Wilson’s creator, Rob Liefeld, made on Nuke The Fridge a couple of weeks ago. While he confirmed nothing concrete, Liefeld hinted at an amazing cast which — combined with the presumption that the film will heavily involve Marvel‘s multiverse — suggests a potentially massive cast list:
“I’ve been very fortunate people put stuff in front of me. And trust me, all I’m saying is, I saw that cast list. I think people are just going to get freakin’ blown away, and I’m not saying more than what I just said.”

Along with our learning of Channing Tatum and Taylor Kitsch joining the cast of Deadpool 3, other alumni from Fox’s X-Men franchise have been busy dropping hints that they could show up in the threequel.
While promoting the final season of Star Trek: Picard, for example, when asked about Deadpoool 3, Patrick Stewart frankly said that he’d been “told to ‘stand by.'” Meanwhile in May, Halle Berry was as subtle as a goddess summoning a tornado when she tweeted a picture of herself in a very Storm-esque hairdo with the accompanying caption, “Patience takes practice.”
Stewart has also reported that Ian McKellen responded positively to the former’s return as Professor X in last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, even going so far as to say McKellen confirmed he would’ve appeared in the film if asked. He followed that up by saying he and McKellen “have plans,” fueling speculation the original cinematic Magneto could join Channing Tatum and the rest in Deadpool 3.
There are also reports that with the movie’s connection to the Multiverse, Loki‘s Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson could show up as well.
Channing Tatum first became attached to the role of Gambit in the mid-00s, when he was cast for an ultimately cut role in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. Because of his commitment to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Tatum couldn’t appear in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but remained interested in the role.
By 2014 it was confirmed a solo Gambit movie was in development with the Magic Mike star in the eponymous role, but by 2019 — after a long list of directors and writers who came in and out of the project — Fox’s new owners Disney confirmed Gambit was dead.
