Rosario Dawson Appearing In Dave Filoni’s Star Wars Film?
Rosario Dawson is hopeful to work with Dave Filoni again, but she wouldn't say whether she would appear in his Star Wars movie.
Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson wants to keep working with Dave Filoni on more Star Wars projects. The actress recently made the revelation to Total Film Magazine, sharing her hopes for the character’s future. “I think he’s one of the greatest I’ve ever worked with in this medium and in this space,” she explained. “And I hope that he continues to bring Ahsoka along.”
“He’s been very loyal to her over the years, and she to him,” Rosario Dawson added about the Star Wars filmmaker via Games Radar. “That’s not going away any time soon. So any kind of way and iteration that I can keep working with Dave, and being inspired by him, and challenging him when I can – it would be awesome,” she continued.
As outlined in the Star Wars roadmap presented at Celebration, Dave Filoni will take on his first live-action directorial project very soon. His feature film is intended to serve as a conclusive wrap-up for the events in the live-action series set in the New Republic era, including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
However, it remains to be seen if Rosario Dawson will appear in the upcoming Star Wars movie. Regardless of casting, the actress remains in awe of the director. “I’ve loved him [Filoni] as a fan, and now, having had the chance to be on set with him daily and work with him, and pick his brain, and him being my own personal encyclopedia for everything Star Wars and beyond – it’s just been a marvel.”
The upcoming movie reportedly draws inspiration from Timothy Zahn’s 1991 book Star Wars: Heir to the Empire. The project will bring together a unique blend of characters and will revolve around a significant event that has the potential to reshape the timeline. Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian, is currently serving as a producer.
Rosario Dawson also acknowledged the speculation surrounding Hayden Christensen’s return to the Star Wars franchise. However, she did not confirm whether he appears in Ahsoka. Instead, she expressed her enthusiasm for the current state of affairs, highlighting that she is now a part of the Star Wars universe while Christensen made his comeback in the 2022 series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
If Christensen were to join the Disney+ show, it would mark the first time Ahsoka Tano [Rosario Dawson] and her mentor from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars appeared together in a live-action Star Wars project. “It’s definitely one of those things that would be super cool if he was [in Ahsoka], but I’m just really grateful that we’re in the same universe,” she said.
Rumors of Christensen joining the Rosario Dawson-led series surfaced following his reprisal of the Star Wars character in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin served as Ahsoka’s mentor in the Jedi Order during the events of the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the subsequent series of the same name. However, Ahsoka eventually parted ways with the Jedi Order.
The characters later reunited as adversaries in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, leading to a climactic duel between Ahsoka and Anakin, who had become the menacing Darth Vader. Additional reports suggest that Ahsoka will showcase multiple intense confrontations between Ahsoka and Darth Vader, with Christensen reportedly undergoing training to execute some of the choreography.
Aside from Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka brings together Rosario Dawson’s central Jedi character with a supporting cast comprising various familiar faces from previous Star Wars projects. This ensemble includes Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), and the Jedi training droid Huyang (David Tennant).
Lars Mikkelsen, the voice actor from Rebels, returns as Grand Admiral Thrawn, making it his first live-action appearance and positioning him as one of the primary antagonists in the series. Joining the lineup of bad guys are Shin Hati and Baylan Skoll, portrayed by Ivanna Sakhno and the late Ray Stevenson, respectively. Ahsoka premieres on August 23, exclusively on Disney+.
