Amanda Bynes Taken Into Custody By LAPD
Amanda Bynes was placed into a psychiatriac hold following a run-in with the police.
Last Saturday, the former Nickelodeon child star Amanda Bynes was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department, according to the Los Angeles Times. The 37-year-old actress-turned-rapper was detained and handcuffed by the police after she reportedly called 911 to report a distressed woman. She has now been placed on a psychiatric hold where she will have her mental health evaluated and properly treated.
Unfortunately, this is nothing new for Amanda Bynes, who has been struggling with her mental health for many years. In 2014, she revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a mental illness that causes a person’s mood to drastically swing from high highs to low lows. A few years later, she also confessed that she was dealing with substance abuse issues as she was struggling with the use of gateway drugs like marijuana and alcohol.
Things seemed more hopeful for Amanda Bynes in 2020 when she celebrated a full year of sobriety and announced her engagement to Paul Michael. Since then, the two have broken up, which may have led to her recent breakdowns.
In March 2023, the former child star was placed on a psychiatric hold after she was found wandering the streets of Los Angeles completely naked. It’s unclear when Amanda Bynes was released from the previous psychiatric hold, but it appears that she slipped back into her old habits and is being placed back on hold for her own safety.
Similar to Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes was under a nine-year conservatorship and was cared for by her mother. In 2022, a judge ended the conservatorship after finding that the actress seemed to be in a better mental state and was able to take care of herself. At the time, Amanda Bynes told People that she was looking forward to prioritizing her health and well-being.
Amanda Bynes was only 13 years old when she got her very own TV show on Nickelodeon, The Amanda Show, which was like a Saturday Night Live show for kids. It was very successful and launched her acting career, landing her leading roles in films like She’s The Man, What A Girl Wants, and Big Fat Liar. The most recent movie she appeared in was Easy A alongside Emma Stone and Penn Badgley, and that was back in 2010.
During the height of her career, Amanda Bynes had voluminous blonde hair, vibrant eyes, and glowing skin, but today she is hardly recognizable. The actress now has straight black hair, glazed-over eyes, and a poorly tattooed heart on her cheek. In 2022, she also attempted to start a new career as a rapper when she released her single Diamonds along with her then fiancé Paul Michael, but the career has since fizzled out.
